Queenie Eye Lyrics
There were rules you never told me
Never came up with a plan
All the stories that you sold me
Didn't help me understand
But I had to get it worked out
Had nobody who could help
So then in the end it turned out
That I had to do it
By myself
That's the game of rags to riches
Dogs and bitches hunt for fame
Until you think you know which way to turn
Lay the blame on the snitches
Wicked witches fan the flame
Careful what you touch in case you burn
Queenie eye queenie eye who's got the ball
I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket
O-U-T spells out
That's out
Without a shadow of a doubt
She could put it in about/a pout?
Hear the people shout
Hear the people shout
Play the game, taking chances
Every dance is much the same
Doesn't matter which event you choose
Never blame circumstances,
If romance is certain game,
Never pick a fight you're gonna lose
Queenie eye queenie eye who's got the ball
I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket
O-U-T spells out
That's out
Without a shadow of a doubt
She could put it in about
Hear the people shout
Hear the people shout
Its long way, to the finish
When you've never been before
I was nervous, but I did it
Now Im going back for more
Eyyy, yeah eyyyy yeah yeah
Eyyy, yeah eyyyy yeah yeah
Here the people shout
Eyyy, yeah eyyyy yeah yeah
Queenie eye queenie eye who's got the ball
I havent got it, it isn't in my pocket
O-U-T spells out

I think this song is really Paul telling us what he's learned thoughout life. He's sharing with us a simple rule. That life doesn't come with a manual and no advice will do life justice. "There were rules you never told me Never came up with a plan All the stories that you sold me Didn't help me understand" He's not the same person he was back when he was a 17 year old kid. That kid is grown up and he's reflecting on how he's come face to face with life's decisions and just like a game it has rules and consequences. The outcome is up to you and as you get older the game gets harder. No one is coming to help you.. you have to do it on your own. And that's just what Paul has done. He pushes on. I think this song really shows us how Paul feels about life and he shows us his joys and fears. He doesn't know what's next but he's still playing the game until it's O. U. T. out. "Its long way, to the finish When you've never been before I was nervous, but I did it Now I'm going back for more" Paul says it all in his own way and still manages to make it a catchy tune. He's amazing and he always will be.
I think he is referencing a child's game of ball tag (cross between dodge ball and tag). If you play it with a smaller ball often times you can't see who has the ball as easily as you could with the larger balls of dodge ball. You could think about that game as being a correlation to life. You are continually scrambling to stay afloat watching out for potential dangers / pit falls, this being the person with the ball. When playing ball tag you have to keep trying to keep track of who has the ball and asking others who has it as kids start screaming and shouting as they get chased. In life you never know who is after you to derail you, purposeful or not.
So the whole song could be a metaphoric correlation between a kid’s game and life. In those types of kid’s games there is rarely any rules or a guide on how to play, you just jump right in and you figure it out as you go with the situation continually changing.
Could Queenie Eye be a childhood friend?
It’s such a beautiful and fun song, heard Paul sing it in Chicago this year a few months ago. Was awesome, he sung it with such a passion.
"Queenie eye, queenie eye, who's got the ball? I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket." It sounds like he's talking to a dog there.
"Queenie-eye queenie-eye, who's got the ball, I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket, O-U-T spells OUT!"
"Queenie-eye queenie-eye, who's got the ball, I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket, O-U-T spells OUT!"
These lyrics caught my attention right away the first time I heard the song .... It's an old (& probably now forgotten) playground ball game we used to play as a child (I grew up on the Wirral - nr Liverpool but I don't know if the game was specific to the North West) Watching "the making of" on You Tube, Sir Paul indeed confirms that this is where he got the lyrics from. :-)

First lyric website that I've found, that have actually got these lyrics pretty much spot on! I've just spent all morning listening over & over to transcribe a more accurate translation than "other lyric sites" - Good Job songmeanings
Macca has loads of stick recently after the jubilee & Olympics & many thought he should hang his guitar up for good, but by jolly he's nailed it with this song! Awesome video too!
