Look me in the eye, say that again
Take me to your chest and let me in
Give me mouth to mouth and make amends
Knock me off my feet like heroin

No need to disguise or to pretend
Don't misconstrue and don't misapprehend
There's nothing left, no fortress to defend
And tonight's the night that we begin the end

You and I kept looking to transcend
The fact that I was breaking to your bend
But this is now but sadly that was then
And tonight's the night that we begin the end

Now I tried, God knows I tried
But there's nothing you can do to change my mind
I tried, God knows I tried
But there's nothing you can do to change my mind

And I don't enjoy to watch you crumble
I don't enjoy to watch you cry
But make no mistake
Make no mistake

Look me in the eye, say that again
Blame me for the sorry state you're in
It's not my fault that you can't comprehend
That tonight's the night that we begin the end

Now I tried, God knows I tried
But there's nothing you can do to change my mind
Now I tried, God knows I tried
But there's nothing you can do to change my mind

And I don't enjoy to watch you crumble
I don't enjoy to watch you cry
And I don't enjoy to watch you crumble
I don't enjoy to watch you cry
But make no mistake
Make no mistake

Look me in the eye, say that again

And I don’t enjoy to watch you crumble, I don’t enjoy to watch you cry, But make no mistake, I will make you crumble and I will make you cry all the same. I don't know why I'm obsessed with these lines :p

To me, this song may be talking about a Relationship. He loves her in every way but she's done a lot of bad things, in the begginning and the end "Look me in the eye, say that again" Maybe he's talking about her telling him that they're breaking And on the rest of the song he's talking about how he tried to keep the relationship good and then, on that night he decides to leave her forever as of, cutting communcation, it hurts both but it's the best. Or that's what i'd say (:

    My Interpretation

In Placebo's song 'Post Blue' it was said: 'I'd break the back of love for you'. Now this song picks up where the blind actions of the protagonist had led to: 'The fact that I was breaking to your bend' refers that he had changed too much about himself and lost who he was in the process.

But what makes the song so sweet is that the protagonist knows exactly what led to this night that is all about them breaking up. He understands where they are at now and he can reflect on the dreams they once shared 'You and I kept looking to transcend'. The good thing is that the protagonist has no regrets: 'Now I tried, God knows I tried' and that sounds very believable. And he still empathizes with her ('And I don't enjoy to watch you crumble. I don't enjoy watching you cry') but he knows he's making the right decision and that's why he has to break up with her.

A very mature decision, There is, though, no story told in the song because we only hear so much of the climax decision of the protagonist after he's been in a dilemma of what to do. And though a climax decision belongs to storytelling, there's just too much missing as to tell what had led to this moment of the breakup. It's just a moment, but there's no climactic value charge. There's no change from beginning to end.

This is such a beautiful, emotional song. I can relate to it with my last relationship.

The first paragraph is about how something is lost, that started the relationship... when they first met, he is almost saying the feeling that he got was like heroin... He feels disconnected and is wishing that the passion was still there, so that they could repair what became broken.

"No need to disguise or to pretend" This line makes me think that the person is pretending that there is nothing left for them to save in the relationship, which is stated in, "There is nothing left, no fortress to defend." This reminds me of my ex because after we had a baby together, I got so tired of his drinking issues that I left him. I was very hurt and didn't want to but I didn't see anything changing... It reminds me of what he says to me now, that there's nothing left to save....

Which goes into, "You and I kept looking to transcend, The fact that I kept breaking to your bend, this is now and sadly that was then..." Reminds me of both of us had expectations of one another in the relationship. We cared about eachother deeply, but we weren't getting what we needed out of it, so we both tried to change each other. He wanted me to be flexible with his decisions to drink and do drugs, and I knew that it caused chaos and betrayal... The fact that I kept breaking to your bend reminds me of how much I put up with, how much I forgave him for, and what I was willing to put up with in order to maintain our relationship...

He claims that he tried, to stop fighting... not admitting that a lot of it was his fault... so in essence, we both tried, God knows we tried...

Basically, it is the end result of a failing relationship. Two people who may care about eachother deeply, one of them has an addiction problem... possibly heroin, or drugs, and the other is trying to change and sober up... and instead of falling together, they fall apart... one of them is sad knowing it's for the best, the other is stuck in anger and full of pride...

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
