St. James Lyrics

This is the story of a man who conquered life drink in hand, ship unmanned.
Marked by genius, channeled good, by some a bit misunderstood.
They'd been wrong many times before.

(chorus)
Many (some) times our saints are sinners.
They blur the lines and lead the way.
Their way.
Raise hell and a glass in reverence.
(To) the fearless lives of our great saints - our saints.

Never a stranger to late night snake bite fist fights and empty pints.
Unrivaled heights.
He led with songs, they sang along, created bonds that held so strong.
Some were right and some were wrong.

(chorus)

(solo)

It's by the sea and at night's end that's when the sin and swill begin.
that's when he had that certain light inside his head.
For every whisper he would scream, for every draught he shared a drink.
For every sorrow there is a light from our St. James.
On the sea by the cliffs he watches, he waits the night to see.
The day - his way.
Last call will find us all.
But there's a light that leads the way, our way.

(chorus)

It's all about the former drummer, the legend , "THE REV".

"This is the story of a man who conquered life drink in hand" "For every draught he shared a drink." => The Rev loves drink, and he rested in peace because of those drinks that make him to suffered from hepatitis.

"Marked by genius, channeled good, by some a bit misunderstood. They'd been wrong many times before." => The band including The Rev (St James) was criticised for their genre. But now everyone is accepting them,

"For every sorrow there is a light from our St. James." => This lyrics make me cry. Matt once said that The Rev is the funniest boy in the band. And he used to console them whenever they feel sad.

Everybody loves St.James. He died in California but he still alive in our hearts. R.I.P Jimmy.

Song Meaning

@thadan22 dude, wtf? He didn\'t have hepatitis, don\'t spread rumors like that. He had an enlarged heart that he was born with.

A fitting tribute to the greatest drummer of all time, anywhere, RIP, Jimmy.

Not only the greatest drummer, but one of the best songwriters of this generation. He wrote a song as beautiful as "Afterlife" and then turned that on it's ear and wrote "A Little Piece of Heaven". Not to mention, as a lifelong Mr. Bungle fan he was the frontman of Pinkly Smooth, the only band that I know of that could've carried the torch for alternative metal for Mr. Bungle. Had Jimmy lived and they made a proper album (which was in the works when Jimmy died). Jimmy was the only musician that I actually cried over his death. I...

Sometimes I wonder if people actually understand what the real cause of Jimmy's death. I don't think most understand the consequences of being an alcoholic. The main thing that killed Jimmy was the enlarged heart condition which is a cause of being an alcoholic. Don't believe me? Go read Mayo Clinic and what they say about alcoholism. I'm watching my best friend fight for her life because she is an alcoholic. It's horrible to watch. I'm scared to death that I'm going to get that phone call that she's found dead. Alcoholism is very real and is very much a DISEASE.
Everyone wants to blame drugs as to the sole reason that Jimmy died. NOT ENTIRELY TRUE. The drugs exacerbated the heart problem. If he had time to make it to see a cardiologist, he might still be with us. Make NO doubt about it... Alcohol was the basis of why he isn't with us. Alcohol like everything is fine in moderation. But like my friend, I don't think he knew how to quit or slow down. I'm not judging anyone who throws down partying. Been there done that myself. I do know, via experience, that when you mix benzo's and alcohol it's like playing Russian roulette. But if a person is unaware that there is a serious problem with a major organ... the chances of not waking up increase greatly. It pisses me off that this FACT is overlooked and he's made to look like a drug addict and that's what killed him. I also don't believe for one second that he killed himself by overdosing on purpose. I don't believe he would have done that to his family or extended family. He loved the people around him and I refuse to believe he would ever hurt the ones he loved intentionally. Some people are reading too much into some things and not enough into the correct things.

@CountessXroads While you\'re not wrong, you are misled. Jimmy was born with an enlarged heart, he did not gain the enlarged heart from heavy drinking. The drinking didn\'t help his condition but Jimmy didn\'t believe he would live long anyway, he stated he wouldn\'t live to 30 which he was correct on.
