Creep in a T-Shirt Lyrics
I'm sorry Mr. Policeman,
If I wanted to talk I woulda called a friend
Don't worry when I get back home
I'll just stay in bed, I'm better off alone
I wake up to my boring days
Never was a child, I was born this way
Always there but always out of place
Feels so alien
I don't know what I know
But I know where it's at
Just because I lost it doesn't mean I want it back
You don't get it
Cuz it the world I'm living in
You don't get it
I'm just a creep in a t-shirt, jeans, I don't fuckin care
Sorry but I don't recall the crime
My memory has left me behind
May have been a man, maybe a friend
Or maybe aliens
I don't know what I know
But I know where it's at
Just because I lost it doesn't mean I want it back
You don't get it
Cuz it the world I'm living in
You don't get it
I'm just a creep in a t-shirt, jeans, I don't fuckin care
It's not because the light here is brighter
And it's not that I'm evil, I just don't like to pretend
That I could ever be your friend
Cuz it the world I'm living in
I'm just a creep in a t-shirt, jeans, I don't fuckin care
You don't get it
Just a loser in a t-shirt, jeans, I don't fuckin care
You don't get it
I'm just a creep in a t-shirt, jeans, I don't fuckin care
If I wanted to talk I woulda called a friend
Don't worry when I get back home
I'll just stay in bed, I'm better off alone

"I woke up to my glory days" not boring days.
and for the chorus pretty sure it's just "Is it the world I'm living in?" not cause it the world i'm living in...that's not english.
should just wait for the album to come out before posting lyrics, they can be tough to decipher.
hes giving up his fight against evil. thats what this song is about. remember sleep forever? "dont wanna know what i know" now he doesnt know it anymore and doesnt want it back. i get it.
Lets examine it verse by stanza shall we?...
the first one talks about how he wishes for solitude, a solitude that only exists mentally for him, because physically he can`t escape from the company of others.
the second one talks about how little he has changed since he was a child, the only issue being that when he was a child he already had his current ideas burned in his brain and didn
t act as a child since he never truly was one so he felt different as an outsider since he couldnt connect with the other kids. The third one says that he doesn
t know why he turned out to be the way he is now but knows what he is and what he isnt. And he is pretty confident with whom he is and wouldn`t change because he is happy with himself.then comes the chorus which specifically points out that nobody else undertands him since they practically live in two different worlds and the only things they have in common are a shirt and a pair of jeans, the ones that himself, the creep, is wearing.
One of my favorites on the record...Seems like it follows the same theme I commented on the first track...Hes tortured, and if you dont fucking like it, too damn bad...also i dont know a huge amount about John but the lines:
Never was a child, I was born this way Always there but always out of place Feels so alien
seem to suggest sexuality issues is John gay? I have no problem if he is it would explain some of his lyrics
He has a girlfriend and a baby daughter, last I heard. He does sing something about "my daughter" in a song or two but that could easily be metaphorical. They're directly mentioned in this article from last year, though: http://www.adn.com/2012/01/21/2276590/portugal-the-man-singer-tends.html

@mbaliya I think it's more about what the rest of the song is about, just feeling out of place, not relating to your peers, not having fun with everyone else, and all that kind of stuff

@mbaliya regardless of whether he's gay or not, this could be about a different thing, about always feeling kind of old, since even when you were a kid. Not the greatest thing, I'd say.

I think at the chorus instead of "Cause it the world I'm living in" he says "Look at what I'm living in" just what I hear anyway. Great Song!
The character being described in first person isn't necessarily John. It's a "creep in a t-shirt", i.e. a drug dealer. He's probably being questioned by the police and he's claiming his "innocence" by saying that he doesn't "recall the crime." By saying "I don't know what I know, but I know where it's at," he's claiming that he doesn't know what the police are talking about, which is the first thing an accused criminal always says. "I just don't like to pretend that I could ever be your friend" means he really doesn't like the interrogators' company.
Very catchy song!
I'm almost positive he says "woke up to my glory days, never was a child I was born this way" boring doesn't make sense. He is saying that he was born a man, fully grown and mature and never needed growing up. Kinda like "born this way"
This song is about the time the band had their touring van stolen in 2011. It contained all their equipment and nearly all their net assets. http://www.oregonlive.com/music/index.ssf/2011/08/john_gourley_talks_about_what.html
