Im 50 and I totally agree you could interpret this song that way...however i feel its most likely about being dead, then revived and not feeling great about it...in fact hes depressed as hell as his wife and family are overjoyed he survived...kinda like people that survive plane crashes and can never put together WHY? how come 151 died and i survived? |

Every song is more overwhelming then the one before it! I know im a broken record but except for a few tracks John stays on the same basic theme alot of letting us know that thinking something out there is going to save us we are screwed. ALSO once again he hints at having his secrets...again I dont know what his issues are but hes not afraid to put them out there for us to speculate... |

Cool song, slight variation from Johns self loathing, but just slightly! Anti religious theme continues, well not anti religious totally because he mentions the devil in all 4 tracks so far, usually equating himself to the devil...Im just delving into John, what a great songwriter....it really sucks that danger mouse contractually is given cowriter on every song...I know he adds a feel but these are Johns songs.. |

AGAIN John is telling us that hes damaged goods, stay away...I dont want or need friends...he talks alot about "sinning" and how people dont approve of his lifestyle choices..again I only have 2 albums form the dude but sexuality and maybe suggestions of being bipolar surface in this track...one thing for sure, all 3 tracks are completely SELF LOATHING...believe me i struggle with many issues of self esteem that seem to be a theme here...cant wait for others to tell me if im just hearing my own issues or what lol |

Thats cool if you know Frank but i think he wasnt telling you EVERYTHING about this wonderful piece of work...It says so much more...it talks about living with regrets and how they can haunt you as you get older...He tells us we need to do everything we can when we are young or we will be sorry later..it also touches on a theme that is brought up elsewhere in this album : think for yourself, you dont have to swallow what the corporate world is selling you...thats just my opinion of course |

This song is about the concept of CO-DEPENDENCY. As a previous poster pointed out, who would be cool with being spit on in the face? someone with zero self esteem that is willing to put up with all kinds of shit as long as, what? as long as they are not abandoned. has anyone seen what daron looks like at this point? dude looks like hes been crawling around iraq..im not saying this to be a racist idiot im just saying i think these songs are way deeper..i really believe this song is being narrated in the eyes of a terrorist..more specific maybe one of the terrorists getting ready to slam into one of the towers on 911..it carries the very judgemental muslim attitude when it talks of "whoring streets" and that the terrorist is sort of bitter about the fact that he has to die to show all the "whores" (americans) that the way we live is wrong and that even though he will be did once he does his deed so will so many of the "whores" |

I think the last dude kinda hit on it..for ME it tells about using drugs (mainly opiates like hydros or heroine) because it touches on WHY people use: escape..it also talks about the pain..which to me talks about the pain of withdrawals..you try to get clean but with opiates its tough, and for me when i decide to use again i also decide to bring on the pain of withdrawals again, seeing it as a cost of doing business but accepted.. |

wow where do i start..first off Greg Dulli is criminally overlooked as a songwriter in the mainstream world (thankfully a world i dont reside)..to say this is one of gregs best is a mouthful, but it covers so many deep topics...as usual for dulli its clearly about addiction and depression...a cynical look at "straight" life where the is no future except pain..lyrically tied to "circle the fringe" also on this album...anyone that has struggled with life and addictions NEEDS to listen to gregs music |
