End of All Days Lyrics
I'm tired of waiting
For the end of all days
The prophets are preaching
That the gods are needing praise
The headlights are coming
Showing me the way
The serpents are singing
A song that's meant to save
All we need is faith
All we need is faith
Faith is all we need
The desert is calling
The emptiness of space
The hunger of the lion
Is written on your face
A maniac's new love song
Destruction is his game
I need a new direction
'Cause I have lost my way
All we need is faith
All we need is faith
Faith is all we need
All we need is faith
All we need is faith
Faith is all we need
The maniac Messiah
Destruction is his game
A beautiful liar
Love for him is pain
The temples are now burning
Our faith caught up in flames
I need a new direction
'Cause I have lost my way
All we need is faith
All we need is faith
Faith is all we need
All we need is faith
All we need is faith
Faith is all we need
A lifetime of consumption
They've all become the same
I punish them with pleasure
And pleasure some with pain
I'll punish you with pleasure
And pleasure you with pain
I'll punish you with pleasure
And pleasure you with pain
For the end of all days
The prophets are preaching
That the gods are needing praise
Showing me the way
The serpents are singing
A song that's meant to save
All we need is faith
Faith is all we need
The emptiness of space
The hunger of the lion
Is written on your face
Destruction is his game
I need a new direction
'Cause I have lost my way
All we need is faith
Faith is all we need
All we need is faith
Faith is all we need
Destruction is his game
A beautiful liar
Love for him is pain
Our faith caught up in flames
I need a new direction
'Cause I have lost my way
All we need is faith
Faith is all we need
All we need is faith

And pleasure some with pain
And pleasure you with pain
I'll punish you with pleasure

This seems to be a critique of religion.
It starts with the general threat that people that preach use, ie "the end is coming, praise god to save yourselves" to expose the weird ungodly need for faith, worship and praise of particular "Gods". It goes on to describe the personal feelings and existential angst that disciples and preachers take advantage of, to lure someone in.
The song describes the manipulative side of mesianic figures (men or deities is left uncertain), the destructive paths they sometimes send their followers on, and the distortion and perversion by them of things like love, life and pleasure.
The refrain is a sarcastic plea for faith, which is usually what is simplistically/deceptively and curiously proposed from religious figures as the only thing that's needed for someone to find meaning, fulfill his destiny, and save himself.
I agree with you in most of your answer... But I think that when he says "All We need is faith" is exactly what he wanted say... That a person just have to believe, because that it's enough

Jared often speaks of angels, demons, and God. I believe that he is saying “all we need is faith” and not someone telling us what to believe; IE: a specific religion. Believe in God and live your life to the best of your ability & that’s all that matters. In the end, who is to judge you, but God himself? Overall, this is such a beautiful album that can be listened to in its entirety, which is rare these days.
The song's obviously a critique of Christianity and how Jesus or the Messiah, describes love as pain and that all you need is faith. I guess that part is obvious and most people have already guessed it. The last part, however, is not sexual. It talks about consumption. About how we are feed the ideas of religion and faith all our lives. The part at the very end "I punish you with pleasure, and pleasure you with pain" is supposed to be sin & pain. When pleasurable things become sinful (and painful) & pain becomes a virtue. (The idea that pain is love.)
made some small but necessary edits. hope they go through soon...
i love this song. it's so beautiful and passionate. a lot of people get caught up in the last few lines (which are obviously quite sexual) but i think the song is so much more than that. i think it's about faith, obviously, and how people use faith to control other people. it could also have something to do with the antichrist and/or the government. it is called "end of all day" after all. ;)
the chorus "all we need is faith" could be a mocking phrase like someone else said, but i personally like to see it literally and use it for reassurance that with faith (belief in yourself, god, anything) we can accomplish whatever we need to. a fellow echelon was going into surgery and i reminded her of this song. it seemed to help.
