Wakin on a Pretty Day Lyrics
Wakin in the dawn of day
I gotta think about what I wanna say
Phone ringin off the shelf
I guess he wanted to kill himself
Wakin on a pretty day
Don't know why I ever go away
It's hard to explain
My love in this daze
You can say I've been most all around
But honey I ain't goin' nowhere
Don't worry 'bout a thing
It's only dying
I live along a straight line
Nothin' always comes to mind
To be frank, I'm afraid
But I don't mind
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah
Been diggin'
Layin' low, low, low
I'm diggin' in
Layin' low, low, low
Dig, dig in
To these lives that we are livin'
Livin' low
Lackadaisically so
Risin' at the crack of dawn
I gotta think about what wisecrack
I'm gonna drop along the way today
Phone ringin' off the shelf
I guess somebody got somethin' they
Really wanna prove to us today
Wakin on a pretty day
For any place
No use sayin' nothin'
To explain it
To my loved ones today
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah
Yeah, yeah

Kurt Vile lyrics hit me in this abstract realm... he steps through the world with a saunter, and just remains in this serene spot while he watches the world around him spin. He says it's hard to explain his love in this daze... words might not best communicate it, but his music sure does. I understand it. I'm there. I'm in that spot, right now, always.
Kurt Vile's songs just have this incredibly sweet, yet sad nostalgia. His lyrics often seem a bit like a meditation or stream-of-consciousness
Happiness despite it all
Please someone help me. The guitar riff in this song keeps reminding me a of chill classic rock song and I can't figure it out. The first time I hear it as at 4:32. Then at 4:50, 5:20 It's not exactly the same riff but so close that it reminds of a song I just can't find.
Please help me figure it out before I go crazy!
@dieselbenz Can't say for sure, but production wise, the lick sounds very Crosby, Stills & Nash'y to me. Could be "Just a Song Before I Go" or maybe "Treetrop Flyer" (Stills).

@dieselbenz OK.. I think I finally found it. Does anyone see the similarity to Elton John - "Funeral for my friends/love lies bleeding" during the second half???

Just discovering Kurt Vile and heard this track on XMU and it has quickly become a favorite. I must listen to it once a day. The first comment hits the nail on the head. I suffer from a bad case of general anxiety disorder and the song calms me down without fail better than any drug I have been prescribed. It has a meditative quality like nothing else I have heard. The brilliant lyrics give space to ponder in a different way on every listen. And I wish the outro would go on forever. Even though it goes back three years, this song is how I will always remember 2016. Thank you Kurt.
