Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.
When you've wandered around so long
you can't come back down.
Now your forgetting how to keep
your feet on the ground.
Tried to fade away but
the only truth I found,
I see through my crossed eyes;
these hands are bound.
Don't you see, it's all me,
creating the fact and the friction
the human condition
against your tradition.
Here's my prediction:
I believe what's in front of me.
My premonition:
you're just a little naive.
Let go of what you think you know,
if you could only see, my prediction:
I believe what's in front of me
and you can't fake that kind of reality.
TWenty years of working hard
just to lose it all.
Who'd have known I could get this far
but still feel so small?
Pardon my mistakes,
the ones you never saw.
Admit you missed it all;
you made me fall.
Don't you see, it's all me,
creating the fact and the friction
the human condition
against your tradition.
Here's my prediction:
I believe what's in front of me.
My premonition:
you're just a little naive.

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
The Nearly Deads are such an underrated band, they are so good!!! and Theresa Jeane has an amazing voice :) some day they will be more famous than paramore... Ok I'd share the meaning of this song: TND: Fact and Friction started with an idea on the piano. The entire band are big believers in the Law of Attaction and that we are all in control of our own destiny. That’s where the idea for the song came from. We are all in control of our own lives and our own circumstances. We bring everything into our lives, even the negativity or ‘friction’ we may experience. I think I had kind of an epiphany; all of a sudden this inspiration hit me and I had to write a song about that realization. The realization that I was the one in control. “Don’t you see? It’s all me. Creating the fact and the friction.”
This band is going to make it big. She has an amazing voice
