Medium Pacer Lyrics
I'm not a racer, a medium pacer
I've got my problems getting out of bed
you could say I'm far from dressed up
that's alright 'cos I feel I overslept
I'm into this
I spend the day wondering what I'm going to be doing next
I spend the day wondering what I'm doing next
I'm underwhelming, not like a bee sting
more like an itch that never needs a scratch
people say I can't be happy
here's the thing, those people got it wrong
I'm into this.....
I've got my problems getting out of bed
you could say I'm far from dressed up
that's alright 'cos I feel I overslept
I spend the day wondering what I'm going to be doing next
I spend the day wondering what I'm doing next
more like an itch that never needs a scratch
people say I can't be happy
here's the thing, those people got it wrong

This song is about an ex-Australian cricketer Max Walker. The first verse describes how he is your average Aussie guy, nothing real special and prone to the odd late night.
It chorus then ramps up the tempo which describes how Max then decided to live life fully and take on new challenges. These included joining the commentary team and becoming an award winning author.
The final verse tells us that Max was no champion is the same vein as Dennis Lillee and that he lacked that knock out punch that you need to be succesful. It then relates this to how others would perceive him in life. Was he a failure, did he underachieve? The moral of the song comes through in the final lines and can be translated to mean you dont have to be succesful in everyone else's eyes to be a success. If you are happy inside then that is the true measure of success.
