Dull Tool Lyrics
Come on out, come on out,
Where’d you go, where’d you go?
I don’t mean to play here
Figure out, figure out
What you know, what you know
Figure out how to say it clear
Cause you’re more likely to get cut with a dull tool, than a sharp one
You, you stuck around,
You stuck around,
You stuck around,
Until you got me
Then, then you dropped me
You, you don’t kiss when you kiss
You don’t fuck when you fuck
You don’t say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough
No pulse in your impulse
Celebration’s impossible
You forgot the difference
Between equanimity and passivity
You forgot you have to try
You have to try, you have to try
You forgot that glorious feeling
That you get when you get the truth
So tell that girl you don’t love her
And if you do, tell her two times
Cause you’re more likely to get cut with a dull tool, than a sharp one
You, you don’t kiss when you kiss
You don’t fuck when you fuck
You don’t say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough
No pulse in your impulse
Celebration’s impossible
You, you don’t kiss when you kiss
You don’t fuck when you fuck
You don’t say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough
No pulse in your impulse
Celebration’s imá¹—ossible
You, you don’t kiss when you kiss
You don’t fuck when you fuck
You don’t say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough
No pulse in your impulse
Celebration’s impossible when
You don’t kiss when you kiss
You don’t fuck when you fuck
You don’t say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough
No pulse in your impulse
Celebration’s impossible
Celebration’s impossible
Celebration’s impossible

This song is about how apathy can be more painful than passionate anger. If you are in an argumentative relationship with a person, at least they are putting in the effort to try to get their point across and it shows that on some level they care. But if the person never gets upset then it probably means that they don't care enough to bother. Especially in the line "you forgot the difference between equinimity and passivity" She's saying that compromise is not being passive and complacent in a relationship and just agreeing with the other person to avoid confrontation. I think the chorus "your more likely..." is saying that in abusive or obviously disfunctional relationships the person can realize it earlier and not invest as much of themselves, but in an apathetic relationship you can trudge along for years without being able to pinpoint the problems, that when the abuse isn't of the yelling and screaming kind but of the neglectful kind then that is a much more insidious and deeper pain. When there's a concrete reason for a break up like "He hit me" or "She cheated on me" or whatever, then you can place the blame on an incident or a behavior; but if that's not the case then you go looking for something or someone to blame and people often blame themselves. There is a silent kind of abuse that can be worse than any yelling or insults, to quote the Lumineers "The opposite of Love is indifference."
Sorry for the duplicate. Stupid intraweb!

it's saying to just be honest. that's the whole message of the song.
"you're more likely to get cut with a dull tool, than a sharp one" saying that lies do more damage than the truth, no matter how blunt
