Hello, my old heart
How have you been?
Are you still there inside my chest?
I've been so worried, you've been so still
Barely beating at all

Oh, oh, don't leave me here alone
Don't tell me that we've grown
For having loved a little while
Oh, oh, I don't wanna be alone
I wanna find a home
And I wanna share it with you

Hello, my old heart
It's been so long
Since I've given you away
And every day, I add another stone
To the walls I built around you
To keep you safe

Oh, oh, don't leave me here alone
Don't tell me that we've grown
For having loved a little while
Oh, oh, I don't wanna be alone
I wanna find a home
And I wanna share it with you

Hello, my old heart
How have you been?
How is it being locked away?
Don't you worry, in there, you're safe
And it's true, you'll never beat
But you'll never break

Nothing lasts forever
Some things aren't meant to be
But you'll never find the answers
Until you set your old heart free
Until you set your old heart free

Hello, my old heart
Hello, my old heart
Hello, my old heart
Hello, my old heart
Hello, my old heart
Hello, my old heart

    My Interpretation

This song is kind of my life. I see it as coming back to your old heart, your old feelings, after you've started your new life. All this time, it's been buried inside you, surrounded by "stones" because if you let it out, it will break, and so will you. You've buried it and numbed yourself against the pain, but it's resurfacing. You find yourself missing things from your old life: your ex, dead family, memories, objects, anything, and you want them to come back. Once you're finished reliving the old days, you lock away your old heart again. One day, you realize you can't be happy unless you relinquish the past, your old heart, and give it up. Only then can you move on. This is hard though, because you need the motivation to do this, and your old heart keeps you fixated, stuck.

"Don't you worry, in there you're safe And it's true, you'll never beat, but you'll never break"

Just the basic feeling that everyone goes through, wanting to protect yourself from the pain but also unfortunately keeping your heart from love as well.

    My Opinion

Personally, maybe this is just me, but this song is more for the past pain we've all been through, Not with love, but anything at all. Once we've damaged ourselves so bad, we question whether anything is really worth putting our hearts on the line for. So we build walls of stone until we find a reason for the walls to be brought down.

Hence "And every day I add another stone to the walls I've built around you to keep you safe."

    My Interpretation

Sounds like the guy went through a break up and is welcoming his heart back into his body instead of giving it back to someone.

"Nothing lasts forever Some things aren't meant to be"

Then he comes through with an upbeat melody at the end of the song :D

    Memory

Whenever I hear this song I kind of feel reminded of what it's like to love and lose, because it feels like something inside of you has been ripped out and torn to shreds, but after a while, you begin to hurt less and less until the pain is almost totally numbed and it is as if something that had been missing finally crawls back into your body.
