You Know Where to Find Me Lyrics
You know where to find me
When you're on your way up
Or bustle and busy
Enough is enough
'Cause life's sweet assemblages
Are quick to driftwood away
Be still with me
You know where to find me
For no particular reason
For stop traffic behavior
Or to get something off your chest
'Cause we go a long way back
Back to nothing at all
Be still with me
Whoa, whoa, whoa, won't you be.
Be still with me?
You know where to find me
If you think it's all over
I can sense it a mile off
It's no friendly hello
You could be screaming drunk
Well I've got my bad days too
I'm gonna be here for you
Be still with me
In a public space, private thoughts
A reminder of a precious loss. ah ah.
I can be your source of constant reassurance
Let the breeze-block sadness drop
Woah, woah, woah, won't you be
Be still with me?
Be still
Heart, lung, soul
Arteries and all
A shoulder at the ready
Vital organs on call
Heart, lung, soul
Arteries and all
A shoulder at the ready
Don't mistake my charity
For what it is
A deep need to be needed
Necessary
Don't mistake my open arms
For what they are
They can turn on you
So show me the money
Show me the money
Blue and green
Fresh eyes on me
I'm young again
All things to men with
Bite sized lifeboats
I'll fix your smashed up head
Be still with me
If you want to be alone
If you'd rather die than tell
You know where I'll be
Where to find me
For hard talk
To call it off or bring it on
A proposal
If you're broken, I'll be here
I'll be here
A secret
For a breather
If there's nothing you can do
When you're on your way up
Or bustle and busy
Enough is enough
Are quick to driftwood away
Be still with me
For no particular reason
For stop traffic behavior
Or to get something off your chest
Back to nothing at all
Be still with me

This one is just poetic as all hell. There are more than a few songs out there that deal with supportiveness -- "Here" by Pet Shop Boys is a personal favorite -- but few that go here: "Don't mistake my charity / For what it is / A deep need to be needed / Necessary." She's reminding us that it's just as mutually destructive not to accept love when we need it as it is not to offer it when we can, because that need is not a one-way street. It's all too easy to forget.
This song is a fantastic piece of art work. What's unfortunate for us measly listeners is that a lot of lyrics are simply only relevant to Imogen at the time she's writing them and therefore, we don't know from where they altogether come from. At any rate, this is a masterpiece, built from the ground up. I love that it doesn't need a huge orchestra of instruments, or fake percussion to give it "swag".. it simply says that she will be there for the one she loves.. it matters not if he/she is screaming drunk, in a public place, or private thoughts.. she wants to be there for them. Fabulous song clearly from an extremely talented mind.
