In the beginning, she's reminiscing about how she use to spend her life on this trivial things. I thought it was quite interesting and a contradiction how she doesn't want to be left behind, but she wants to keep her distance. It could be taken as a problem with relationships, how she wants to be with someone, but at the same time, she doesn't want to get close.

For me, I think this song is about moving on. In the beginning, she's talking about how much she can do without people influencing her. When she's turning her cheek for the sake of the show, she could be avoiding conflicts so she doesn't want to waste time by starting gossip. She's realizing how she should spend most of her time. "Catching her breath" could be interpreted as the epiphany that she should move on and focus on her, without anything holding her back.

This song is about letting go of all those distractions in life trying to throw you apart. It can all change once you realize and take that step away from it all. From it all, everyone will be better.

Clarkson tried to make it a simple equation to make a difference in your life.

i love the song..it tells that you are responsible for all the emotions you've been through..you are responsible for your own happiness. Let go of that things that doesn't value you or just making you feel worthless. Love yourself a little more..

I recently met a friend who has helped me see the beauty in everything. I hope he will always be here but even if he isn't I will never forget him!

I see this song as Kelly's struggles through life but she never gave up hope. I love how her music is tough but romantic at the same time.

I think this song goes back to her american idol days how she says "Turning my cheek for the sake of this show" - turning her cheek and doing what the producers say..? and also " I won't be told whats supposed to be right" - just everyone telling her different things that they think is right.? so shes done with that shes taking a step back and just looking at everything in her life and now she's ready to do her thing not anyone else's.... something like that =)

Maybe Kelly and her co-writers are being sarcastic or ironic when they put the lines "I don't wanna be left behind/Distance was a friend of mine" lyrics in the song when they wrote it.

This is what happened. I read a blog this morning about the 4 ways God acknowledges your prayers. One was through song. I was meeting with my ex who broke my heart and I asked for help deciding to keep the dream of reconciliation or let go.. It was clear it wasn't to be . Got in the car and this is the first song I heard. I'm moving on. God and Kelly said so.
