Graphic Nature Lyrics

Leave your drape open
Let me inside
I’m confused more or less
Shed some light
And tell me your secret
How are you trained?
I promise you I can keep it
Go on explain…
Tell me how you do it…now
Your poison is glowing
Against the night
How can you lose
Just show them tricks we like
I’m aware of the demons
That you’ve tucked away
I like to watch you release them
Go on and say…
Tell me how you do it
Every time it takes my knees out
Still every time you do it
I’m surprised
Show your strings, your wires
Check the lights
Provide me clues just go ahead
And break your silence
And tell me your secret
Can I watch you train?
Although I’d like to believe it
Go on explain
Tell me how you do it
Every time it takes my knees out
Cause every time you do it
I’m on fire…
Tell me how you do it
Every time it takes my knees out
Cause every time you do it
I’m surprised…
How the fuck you do it
Every time you take my knees out
Yeah every time you do it
I’m on fire…

/ And tell me your secret / How are you trained?

      • We all carry a trained persona which we present as ourselves, however this is not who we really are, it is a trained set of reactive patterns, a kind of shield for our inner core which is true and pure and thus very vulnerable

/ Go on explain… / Tell me how you do it…now / Your poison is glowing / Against the night / How can you lose / Just show them tricks we like

      • the persona can be quite amazing and even though it is incredibly deep and even seems luminescent, it is fake and thus toxic to the true core person it is supposed to protect. "The tricks we like" is another take on that, the fake persona is the ego.

/ Every time it takes my knees out

      • Dislocating joints was/is used as a method of torture. To observe the true self is to relive and face every repressed memory of trauma you have ever felt.

Essentially the song may be about inspecting the methods of self deception in yourself and others which may be quite amazing in their complexity and repression, especially if what you are observing is yourself. "Training" may refer to the ways one creates habits, delusions, justifications etc.

/ I like to watch you release them

      • ....

I was right with you until the dislocated joints.

Oh. My God. I had to create an account just to respond to this. BULL SHIT. You're saying everyone is a fraud, a liar, a facade, a fake representation of who we want people to think we are. If your ego, or if you think everyone's ego, is like that, fine. Believe what you want. But painting everyone with such an ignorant stroke literally makes me disgusted. Your super-ego didn't stop your id from spewing forth such a disingenuous ego that you need to rationalize everyone is like you, so your fragile mind doesn't fully shatter at the possibility someone,...

The first time I heard this my first reaction was, "this song's about an incredible prostitute and this guy wants to know how she is able to fill people's desires like magic. "Tell me how you do it, every time it takes my knees out" It's like this woman is able to give him such an incredible blowjob that he is literally unable to stand the pleasure. "Just show them tricks we like" "Show your strings, your wires, check the lights" He's trying to figure out what she's doing that's different from every other woman. Every time she fills his sexual desire he never gets bored because it's like a magic show and he's the willing volunteer who can't figure out her secrets. This entire song seems like comparing a magician to a guy/girl who can fill sexual needs.

My Interpretation

I also think it's about a prostitute. Chino has had more songs about that subject

@MyTooCents I agree. My first thoughts.

Definitely an element of sex in this song. He is fascinated if not obsessed in this person's "skills" in bed.

@WEyesOwl agreed!

This is the only song on this album that has a "bad word" I know there are other albums by other bands that have one "bad word" so why does it have a Parental Advisory sticker?

I really liked Experiman's take on this song. I think about being attracted to someone and knowing that they put on a facade and wanting to know who is under it.

I agree with Experiman, but i think its a dialogue from a person watching another person exteriorize some "demons" and "poisons", and the talking person is surprised how the second manages to hide that so deep (enough to make the first person surprised). And since the talking person has demons too, he want to learn to hide his too.

My Interpretation

This, to me, is definitely about sex. A prostitute that's incredible. Flling his needs. It amazes him.
