Bury Your Heart Lyrics

Gold, gold, bones, bones
Under platinum headstones
Gold, gold, bones, bones
Under platinum headstones

You're so cold as you sit there alone
Selling your bright ideas
And paying someone to answer your phone
So this is life, come home tonight
To kids and wife
After a day of twisting the knife
'Til you get yours

There's blood on the tracks again
By what you're selling them

You know it breaks my heart
It breaks my heart
I hate to see you drown in a sea of bills
Where did you bury all that
Precious, precious gold
Gold, gold, bones, bones
Under platinum headstones
Gold, gold, bones, bones
Under platinum headstones

You build empires, airplanes
And smog carted smires
Up to the last blank page
When the wildfires rage on the hills

There's blood on the tracks again
By what you're selling them

You know it breaks my heart
It breaks my heart
I hate to see you drown in a sea of bills
Where did you bury, did you bury

Take my hand
Let's leave this place
Tonight we'll need our souls
And not that
Gold, bones, bones, bones
And all that worthless gold
Bones, bones, bones
And all that useless

There's blood on the tracks again
By what you're selling them

You know it breaks my heart
It breaks my heart
I hate to see you drown in a sea of bills
Where did you bury all that
Precious, precious gold
Gold, bones, bones, bones
Under platinum headstones
Gold, gold, bones, bones
And all that worthless gold
Gold, bones, bones, bones
And all that worthless gold
Bones, bones, bones
And all that useless gold
Gold, gold, bones, bones
Where did you bury your heart?

First and foremost, I love the juxtaposition and ambiguity of the words 'gold' and 'bones.'

As far as the meaning of the song, I take it to be about someone working a job where they make a ton of money, often making tough decisions that hurt the people under them. They are financially stable, but their quality of life sucks since they're absorbed by a demanding job. The things that should matter like 'kids and wife' are being buried by greed. The money just isn't worth the sacrifice, and is therefore no better than a useless collection of bones. The same bones that came from the people before you who made the same dumb decision and died with nothing more than a bunch of shiny coins.

Obviously everyone will have a different meaning but to me its abut someone accepting less than what they deserve. Like settling and it touches me a lot because everyone in life does this. Especially when she says, "did you bury your heart?" it makes me think of someone giving in, which most people unfortunately do. Even if someone has money or luxuries they cold still be settling by choosing it over their life, family, etc. and this is why I think this is the meaning. Whatever the meaning its my favorite song yet made by them, they're amazing.

My Opinion

I think its "do you abide with what you're selling them?" Anyways, I think its a banker. Ya know, those suit people, who denies loans though because of their actions a single parent might become homeless, or an old lady who is forced to move from the house she has lived in all her life. Not saying the song is about that, but about the people who suffers, but who makes the decicions.

I think this song is about what you can take with you when you die. Building wonders and selling your soul to gather riches in this life. Burying it beneath your platinum headstone only to end up with nothing. I like the transition between precious gold and worthless gold towards the end of the song.

Quickly my favorite song on New Horizons.

My Interpretation

I think the song is more about how you live your life. Many people live, like how the song describes. They choose there money and greed over their family and friends. Say, you tell someone you believe in something or someone and they believe what you say, but did you tell the truth do you really believe in the something or someone. I think that's what "do you buy what your selling them" means in a way. In life Gold can be worth millions, but in the end when we die it's worthless. Some people choose greed and when they die are worthless. It's the people who give even when they have nothing that are full of worth.

I swear theres a line or a word or two between "There's blood on the track again, and by what you're selling them. Anyone else hear it? On a youtube video it says "There's blood on the tracks do you buy, or buy what you're selling them?" Which makes a lot more sense.

I believe it says nearby

Nah, what I hear is: There's blood on the tracks again Do you buy Buy what you're selling them?
