Such an underrated love song. To me, one of The Vaccines' best song.

This song is about someone who believed they had finally met their soul mate.

Something about the stranger raptured a sense of familiarity within the singer, which measured up to their ideal partner. However, the singer's lack of confidence and reserved tendancies caused a shyness within, which overwhelmed their ability to reveal to the person how they really felt

Although the singer sensed a deep connection with the other, years of enduring the routine of loneliness forbade them to act and as a result made them 'to go miss my moment'

Such feelings are rare, so, my advice to the anyone who has experienced such encounter- don't give up cos chances are the other felt it too.

NB 'But they trust me to convince my mother' should read 'But then trust me to go miss my moment'.

As @lyricalpotion said it's a song about finding that especial person in your life but your insecurities and shyness brings you to lose an opportunity to tell her your feelings, however I have a positive tought about the song because I find it beautiful and seems like another opportunity will come and you still want to hold her close 'cause you know this is a lonely world ...
