In a nutshell, Mary Amory goes out on the town after a year or so of Sirius being gone and meets a man at a bar who offers to buy her a drink. He "accidently" knocks the drinks over, buys her another and slips her a roofie when she's not looking in an attempt to (obviously) drug her and rape her, etc. The drink is intercepted by a police officer and the man is taken away, but (somehow, I'm still not 100%clear) he ends up becoming Mary's love interest.

I would say you don't necessarily need to be 100% clear on how she ends up with him. Since this is sung from his perspective, he keeps mentioning how she'll end up with him, and he says he will be her biggest mistake. How he can see the future, I'm not 100% sure :p

This has got to be on purpose...right?
The main riff of this song is an enhanced part of the amazing guitar solo in The Willing Well I: Fuel for the Feeding End.
That solo is so unique and one of my favorite guitar solos of all time. I recognized it about 6 seconds into this song, but Coheed doesn't go out of their way to highlight the reference like with "Irobot" and "Delirium Trigger" in "2113" or repeated lyrics like "What did I to deserve..."
Really cool, used to completely different effect here.
