When I think of a figure 8, I think of the symbol for infinity...what I think she means is that she's always chasing after his love, never ceasing and never ending, but never reaching the end. A continues loop that goes on forever, because he lets it.

This about chasing love to infinity. chasing a love that you will never get, it seems to me that this is about a girl chasing an empty love. this guy gave her some love/affection and is just toying with her heart. If you were in love with someone once, you will always be in love with them. you will always have memories or something to hold onto

It sounds like Ellie is singing "forever and a day" but I own Halcyon and the lyrics come included in the cd....... it's actually "forever everyday" It trips me out, still a great song nonetheless I feel like this song is about someone promising you the world and a future together, but they just took it all away by throwing away the relationship.. It can compare to my relationship with my the first real guy I dated, such powerful lyrics.

I believe this is a tragic love song about a someone who was so in love with another person. Believed everything he/she told them but then they broke all the promises. But every thing that was promised to the person, they clutch to, desperately trying to keep the connection of love from breaking. The figure 8 is the sign for infinity and its never ending, like the person trying to run for the love, never finding the end, but also never letting go of the initial feelings. I think this is about something being too late. There was this guy that she initially saw as a friend that was somewhat annoying. He had feelings for her from the start but she was just uninterested. Towards the end of their friendship, she started to develop feelings unconsciously. He gave up on her and that’s when she realized her feelings. She fell deeply in love with him and wished she could have connected with him more.
Is it just me who feels like its about someone she loved who passed away? Idk why but in the video she almost seemed like she was mourning over losing them.
