Key Entity Extraction I: Domino the Destitute Lyrics
If you had the courage to stop me
From turning into what would be
The worst in everybody's eyes
Hey, I'm no angel, or the devil of your conscience
To tell you who to be
Good, bad, ugly or otherwise
If you had good common sense
Your choices would be gleaming flawless.
I want no part in this self-deprecating worthless chemistry
We made our beds
To lie in them proud
Proud of our great mistakes
This warring knife
The flash of this blade
Turn about-face
I implore you, brother
Don't walk away
Don't walk away from me.
Because this is our war
Oh, you think they've had it all
While you were left with nothing
Oh, you've taken the fall
For them to walk all over
You've made your bed
So soft and comforting
These dream await
The Great God Morning.
We made our beds
To lie in them proud
Proud of our great mistakes
This warring knife
The flash of this blade
Turn about-face
I implore you, brother
Don't walk away
Don't walk away from me.
Because this is our war
Oh we've got you by the throat...ha, ha ha
All you want to be
Welcome to the everlasting all-time-low
Please put your hands together
For the ever failing one man show-Domino!
Ladies and broken gentlemen,
The undisputed champ of misery
And in chis corner
We find his challenger
The pride of Utopia
The greatest thing ever
If you could recall
One moment of your past
That defined you to be
That made you the man
We've come to love
All the above
Oh, this disaster binds us absolute
A thousand lies you'll tell yourselves
That no one ever loved you right
But I would do anything for you
The question fits the question mark
Your signals crossed, your message lost...Ha,ha
This wall won't hold forever
Your time has come it's now or never
We made our beds
To lie in them proud
Proud of our great mistakes
This warring knife
The flash of this blade
Turn about-face
I implore you, brother
Don't walk away
Don't walk away from me.
Because this is our war
One by one, we are together, we fall together
Brother, don't be afraid
We are together, we fall together
From turning into what would be
The worst in everybody's eyes
Hey, I'm no angel, or the devil of your conscience

This song is a great example of what I love about this new album. On one level, it fits into the overall ongoing story of these two records, which kind of serve as a sort of background story for the world of Heaven's Fence and the Keywork, but on another it is clearly a personal story that Claudio is telling about the band's ex-bassist Mic Todd. (That part's according to Claudio himself in a recent interview.)
The "Key Entity Extraction" songs in general seem to be about these people (or maybe ghosts of people?) that Sirius Amory encounters while discovering the Keywork. Domino appears to be a boxer taken in by the dark side of the sport and manipulated into a life of crime and eventually dying because of it. That story is of course analogous to Mic Todd's own, if his recent arrest is any indication. I think it's awesome that Claudio is able to write such a personal song that also fits in with the high concept of the band's music...even if it's perhaps a bit heavy handed.
I figured the song was so much more than the story. The dedication he put into it with intricacies like the maniacal laughing, which weren't in any other recent songs let me know this was personal for him. It's great how he managed to distance himself from the story, allow creative process, yet expose so much of his personal experiences to the audience. It's why I've been a coheed fan since IKSSE:3.

Sirius is amazed at what he finds in the Keywork as he steps from his shuttle: a moving, waving mass of shifting shapes and colors. The beauty of it is staggering, and the realization that he is the first person in the entire system to make this trek into such unknown territory fills him with pride. His joy is short lived, however, as he begins see humanoid shapes -- vague at first, then gaining definition -- writhing within the energy cloud. One, in particular, has the strength to overpower the others, charging towards Sirius and jumping into his body, possessing him and forcing him to relive the mysterious entity's tragic end.
Domino was, in life, an up-and-coming star in the boxing world, but he was not truly happy. Though his professional life was great, his personal life was not -- and these feelings were augmented as he watched his brother, Chess, live a happy life with his beautiful wife. He needed something to fill the void, and in that quest he found Kriptor Noncruss, a local crime boss, who told Domino he would go on to accomplish great things.
Kriptor's influence proved fatal; Domino began taking drugs to enhance his fighting abilities, and as he got addicted, he became more and more willing to do Kriptor's bidding. After losing against the reigning champion, Domino lost it all. He was homeless, broke, and desperate, opening him up to participate Kriptor's biggest scheme yet: an armored car heist that would pay Domino a small fortune. Realizing that his brother could also use the money, he convinced Chess to come along and help, but when the robbery went wrong, Chess was shot by the police as an injured Domino looked on. This was his breaking point; seeing no other option, he turned his gun on himself and ended his life in a moment of complete and utter devastation, leaving him to languish for eternity as a lost soul in the Keywork.
As the gun is fired, a huge blast knocks Sirius free of Domino's control and rocks his ship, damaging it severely. Debris shoots in all directions and it seems that Sirius Amory's journey has been cut tragically short.

In fear that my submission won't be reviewed, I've decided to post the most complete lyrics here

!!! IF YOUR NOT FAMILER WITH THE STORYLINE SPOILER ALERT !!! This album is about Sirius Amory and about his discovery that the Keywork is made of lost souls. So I think that the songs with the titles 'Key Entity Extraction' are songs about him extracting a soul from the Keywork and each song is telling the story of that souls life, this one being about Domino and his life.
I submitted full lyrics for this, but they have no been reviewed. Its been over a week. It's strange, this is about half of the lyrics for this song. Once my lyrics are reviewed they will be the most complete on the internet until the booklet comes out
Radio edit vs album version?
Radio edit vs album version?
This is about Mic Todd, disgraced former Bass guitarist junkie who departed the band between this and the last album. If you listen to the demo version, he says "The questions, it's the questions, Mic".
Forgiveness, that was pretty good, though I need to correct a few things:
I will put corrections in caps.
