Pinwheels

Being the first person to go through each song off of Oceania individually (at least on this website,) is pretty difficult, as i earlier explained, i lent my CD of Oceania to a friend, so i do not have the lyrics, and the website (at least to this date) does not have any of the lyrics correctly posted. the only other comments are the regular: "I LoVE THis SOnG!!1!" comments, so i'm not really copying anyone.

NOW to the song: Pinwheels is... so.. beautiful. going from that beautful electric riff, to the acoustic chant for the moon that we have now called Pinwheels. not much to say, other than that :/ but it DOES wrap up the 4-song story of Violet Rays, My Love is Winter, One Diamond, One Heart, and Pinwheels. at least that's what i believe, nothings been confirmed. (Billy/ You/ Main character) finds out, that "What gets lost, if i got you?" if he has her, what could possibly be lost? well, alot. but for the sake of the story, i think it's alot deeper than I'm looking into it.

Ah, I finished Pinwheels and I agree with the idea that it's a 4 song concept.

Violet Rays is the questioning of the infidelity/unfaithfulness, followed by the initial loss due to it

My Love is Winter is the despair/greiving stage, but the end provides a very little bit of hope

One Diamond, One Heart is finding that person who gets you back on the horse and believing in love again.

Pinwheels is about accepting that initial loss and coming out from it in a better place with a better attitude

The titles of SP songs are generally very meaningful.

I can't for the life of me figure out what Pinwheels means in relation to this song.

I guess a pinwhell is a toy that you blow on (or wind hits) and the force of the air sends it spinning round and round. Pinwheels are generally colorful and something children play with.

I think I'm missing something here as well. Maybe the notion of the pinwheel is the notion that love itself goes round and round in circles and we're all at one of the four stages in the process?

I agree that there is really no resolution at the end of the "concept" (4 songs).

OCEANIA, as a movement within the larger TEARGARDEN framework, is all about opening oneself up to love and life, when being a hermit is the easier option. "Pinwheels," as mentioned a child's toy/garden ornament, move based on the flow of the wind. The song is about letting go, and the choice of whether to give in to love's possibilities, or stay "as refused."

Lyrical correction: It's "Sister Soul" not "Sister Sun." And "floating away I think I'll stay in blue - black."
