Kill the DJ

This song is about the decadent and corrupt lifestyle of the people who are into the pop music/clubbing scene. The person in the song is walking through New York City, he goes into a club and sees all the drugs and sex going on, the overindulgence and unholiness, and he is absolutely disgusted and wants to kill the DJ, because the DJ seems to be the leader of the overindulgence, inspiring people to do dangerous, stupid things like take drugs and party.

it's about the drug usage problem that is increasing day by day in most of the countries,, in this song billie insists to block the drug dealers (kill the DJ) because the victims of this phenomena is increasing extremely (the blood left on the dance floor running running red) and its consequences will effect all of us even the drug dealers (the bullet that you asked for killing you to death)

dance floor represents the country in which drug usage is increasing in it DJ represent the drug dealer

Just a hint of The Rolling Stones in this song. "Kill The DJ" by Green Day: "Walking after dark in the New York City park" and "Someone's gonna get you, boy" (especially the way Armstrong whispers that line menacingly) "Miss You" by The Rolling Stones: "I've been walking in Central Park, Singing after dark. People think I'm crazy. I've been stumbling on my feet, Shuffling through the streets, Asking people, 'What's the matter with you, boy?'"

I think the song could be about many things. The more obvious one being the club scene's decline (though it has been pretty much this way forever anyway) and the DJ being the center. But I think it's probably more of a metaphor than that since GD seems to use those quite a bit. I personally think it's more about societal issues. DJ of often used as a term to refer to a coordinator or leader or something along those lines. Thinking about, that, this song could be applied to many things, drugs and politics being two of the many. Basically, you could pick off the members of the issue (druggies, dealers etc) one by one but nothing would actually change unless you took the issue out at its source (drug supplier/creator/whatever). It's also referring to a situation where "the bullet you asked for killing you to death", making drugs or [bad] politics really easy interpretations.

I kind of like the worship aspect, the DJ is their god with the corrupting voice, and the whole thing is like a cult, each night a battle as soldiers march down there and do their thing, not all of them coming home. And the voices, well, reference to drugs, really, a play on the effects. It's kind of a simple song, but the imagery and the metaphors are genius.

This song is about a party that went too far and the protagonist doesnt know if he likes it or not so he goes with it. It could also mean that a dj has taken over live music and billie joe wants to kill the dj too get live music back at clubs.

Dance music sucks. I think the message is pretty clear and concise.
