Forrest Gump Lyrics

I wanna see your pom poms from the stands
Come on, come on

My fingertips, and my lips, they burn
From the cigarettes
Forrest Gump you run my mind boy
Running on my mind boy
Forrest Gump

I know you Forrest
I know you wouldn't hurt a beetle
But you're so buff, and so strong
I'm nervous Forrest
Forrest Gump

My fingertips, and my lips, they burn
From the cigarettes
Forrest Gump you run my mind boy
Running on my mind boy
Forrest Gump

I saw ya game, Forrest
I was screamin' run 44
But you kept runnin' past the end zone
Oh where'd you go Forrest
Forrest Gump

My fingertips, and my lips, they burn
From the cigarettes
Forrest Gump you run my mind boy
Running on my mind boy
Forrest Gump

Forrest green
Forrest blues
I remember you
This is love, I know it's true
I won't forget you (you)
(Oh you you) it's for you Forrest, you you
(Oh you you) it's you you Forrest
Forrest Gump

Cover art for Forrest Gump lyrics by Frank Ocean

He's making references to a classic, it may or may not also be a metaphor for the relationship he had when he was 19.

Did anyone ever legitimately listen to this and think if Frank meant for this song to be sung from a woman's point of view? Perhaps Jenny's?

"Forrest Gump, you run my mind boy Running on my mind boy Forrest Gump

I know you Forrest I know you wouldn't hurt a beetle But you're so buff, and so strong I'm nervous Forrest"

Jenny loved Forrest which is why he was "running" through her mind and the concluding word "boy" sounds like something Jenny would say. Only Jenny would know he "wouldn't hurt a beetle" and say he's "so buff and so strong"

My Opinion

This is his first song directed at a male since he came out of the closet. If you feel uncomfortable with that like I do, we can just believe your take on it.

I guess you didn't know that Frank Ocean is gay. So this song about Forrest Gump is a whole metaphor for his relationship which he had when he was in High School.

I agree. I think it has a double-meaning. On one hand, it's Jenny's point of view. At the same time, it's a metaphor for his first love in high school. Great song anyway.
