Simmer Lyrics
Where it starts
And where it ends
Is here in my bedroom
Chatter from vents
Is the only thing seeping through
I see spiders defend
The same space I’m living in
I should be called out to amend
The words are mattering
What am I waiting for?
Somebody to break in
What am I aiming towards?
A fight that never ends
What am I searching for?
A light to shine again
A siren crept in
And said the world’s still grinning
I need a strong arm my friend
To keep me from simmering
What am I waiting for?
Somebody to break in
What am I aiming towards?
A fight that never ends
What am I searching for?
A light to shine again
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
If I get up
Out of this den
Where do I begin?
What am I waiting for?
Somebody to break in
What am I aiming towards?
A fight that never ends
What am I searching for?
A light to shine again
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
That’s where it starts
That’s where it ends
That’s where it starts
That’s where it ends
That’s where it starts
And where it ends
And where it ends
Is here in my bedroom
Is the only thing seeping through
The same space I’m living in
I should be called out to amend
The words are mattering
Somebody to break in
What am I aiming towards?
A fight that never ends
What am I searching for?
A light to shine again
And said the world’s still grinning
I need a strong arm my friend
To keep me from simmering
Somebody to break in
What am I aiming towards?
A fight that never ends
What am I searching for?
A light to shine again
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
Out of this den
Where do I begin?
Somebody to break in
What am I aiming towards?
A fight that never ends
What am I searching for?
A light to shine again
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
Nothing’s coming
That’s where it ends
That’s where it starts
That’s where it ends
That’s where it starts
And where it ends

Very likely I'm wrong... but considering the theme of the album is his past and how he came to be, it sounds like this is his feelings in a dingy apartment of sorts. Just single bedroom (where it starts and ends)
Just sorta being lost in that depressed state, wanting to move onward successfully in life
Been working graveyard without sleep, so forgive any grammar errors.
This whole Neck of the Woods album, since it was recorded in the area where Brian grew up, has a lot of elements of his childhood.
To me, this song literally is about Brian playing guitar and music in his bedroom in his parents house.
I'm a very big SSPU fan and have watched numerous interviews, Brian was at one point, extremely shy about his guitar playing and vocals. And in an interview he talks about how he figured out a way just right to close the vents in his room so his parents wouldn't be able to hear him playing guitar.
This song is about his paranoia of playing in his room, constantly thinking his parents or siblings are listening from the outside.
Here is a breakdown of my thoughts on the chorus.
"What am I waiting for? Somebody to break in"
Literally talking about his parents / siblings opening his door while he's playing to tell him to stop, that he isn't good, or something positive, just the anticipation of it, and how he would be embarrassed.
"What am I aiming towards? A fight that never ends"
I believe this line would be about his parents telling him he isn't good, or maybe that he is wasting his time spending it all locked away in his bedroom messing around with music and sounds.
What am I searching for?" A light to shine again"
Again just an interpretation, could be about a light from the hallway late and night when he knows his parents have woken up while he's playing, and how it makes him nervous, or maybe a light shining is a optimistic thing and it's his family coming in his room to tell him they believe in him as a musician and the light is his hope to become one, which due to his low self-confidence, isn't always shining.
Anyways, food for thought!
I think its supposed to be "If I get up OUT OF THIS DEN..."
I'm hearing it too. I heard in on the laptop, on the big speakers, and on the headphones. Kinda like the den on the front cover of the album, riiiigh? xD

Wikipedia says: A den is a comfortable, usually secluded room[1] in a house. In the United States, the type of rooms described by the term den varies considerably by region. It is used to describe many different kinds of bonus rooms, including studies, family rooms, home offices, libraries, home cinemas, or even spare bedrooms.

The feelings of lethargy and hopelessness from the depths of a depression. He knows he is in it and though it doesn't feel like it will end he knows it will, by either someone pulling him out or another "light." He wants to be proactive and is searching for a way out, but coming up empty handed, frustrated to feel this way and not really know way. I think this captures the feeling well. Badass song aside from the lyrics too.
"Where it starts And where it ends Is here in my bedroom"
First thought was that this means suicide. There are a lot of songs on this album that obliquely reference it, but I'm not sure if that's the intention here or not.
