For me this song is about having an affair. Knowing it's wrong and it couldn't last, but still the aching of it being over... And the longing.
Especially the first strophe catches it perfectly.

An unapproved relationship Lies are told only if isn’t sanctioned I think she’s walking away from it but droppping bolts on the ground could mean they are getting caught . Not discreet enough to keep it under wraps. She still wants him to come but saying goodbye anyways.
