Give Me the Night Lyrics
Falling gradually, endlessly, the perfect disease
Everyone's a winner, but you're down on your knees
Sanity is passing, one more shot if you please
For the one final game I won't be playing
Still the same tempting voice in my mind
Losing grip on it all
Carry on through the endless lies
'Cause I can't see a reason why
[Chorus:]
Give me the night
Let me be me for one last time
A prisoner of myself lost in disguise
Just give me the night
Still living in a twisted dream
There's no tomorrow for right now will be
The best time of my life
Hammering, sickening, torment and pain
Blind ambition to poison my brain
Cheating, lying, begging, stealing day after day
For the one final dose I won't be saving
Pure Darkness consuming my life
Don't wanna die here alone
Walk away from reality
Got a date with the enemy
[Chorus]
The best time of my life
[solo]
Still the same tempting voice in my mind
Losing grip on it all
Carry on through the endless lies
'Cause I can't see a reason why
[Chorus]
Everyone's a winner, but you're down on your knees
Sanity is passing, one more shot if you please
For the one final game I won't be playing
Losing grip on it all
Carry on through the endless lies
'Cause I can't see a reason why
Give me the night
Let me be me for one last time
A prisoner of myself lost in disguise
Just give me the night
Still living in a twisted dream
There's no tomorrow for right now will be
The best time of my life
Blind ambition to poison my brain
Cheating, lying, begging, stealing day after day
For the one final dose I won't be saving
Don't wanna die here alone
Walk away from reality
Got a date with the enemy
Losing grip on it all
Carry on through the endless lies
'Cause I can't see a reason why

For me it looks like this song about drug addiction there are too many thing that pointing to this area. The funny thing that the most positive line : "The best time of life" could be just getting of another dose of the drugs which is actually rather nasty thing. Anyway quite unusual lyrics for this band, and that's generally the reason i write this comment :)

like predelnik said, this song does sound alot like drug addiction.
So I suppose, going by the "post-apocalyptic" theme/storyline this album seems to be telling, perhaps drugs were a way to escape for the soldiers and/or general populace? The lyrics also seem to suggest they're considering suicide, perhaps via the drugs themselves.

Yes, this does seem like drug addiction, but going by the other songs (and TheGreatNinjaMan's many great comments on them!), you can easily see this song fitting into the post-apocalyptic theme of the album itself. Perhaps drugs are the way for the general populace and/or the soldiers to escape from reality. In addition, the lyrics themselves seem to imply the subject of the song is contemplating suicide, likely via the drugs themselves.
"Still the same tempting voice in my mind Losing grip on it all (losing grip on it all) Carry on through the endless lies 'Cause I can't see a reason why"
That'd be the best example, right there. The voice in his mind is the temptation of ending it all. In the main theme of the song, "The Night" is likely referring to the pleasant darkness of death, escape from the nuclear winter.
"There's no tomorrow for right now will be The best time of my life"
That would be the goal, of course. Get lost in the world of escape that the drugs are bringing him, as they kill him at the same time. There's no tomorrow.
"Hammering, sickening, torment and pain Blind ambition to poison my brain Cheating, lying, begging, stealing day after day For the one final dose I won't be saving"
This is of course describing the state of the world, and also mentioning the final dose of the drug, and how he's going to go ahead and die now rather than save it for later.
"Pure darkness consuming my life Don't wanna die here alone (die here alone) Walk away from reality Got a date with the enemy"
This part is a little confusing, but I'm sure it can be spinned to fit in with the rest of the song. Perhaps he's still a bit afraid of dying despite his decision to go through with it.
