I feel like the singer is singing about a friend, or possibly a significant other, who is on drugs. It's mainly the floating away thing and not chasing their dreams. This may just be me.

That would make sense 'cause the band she is in with her family, Eisley, has a song called Come Clean and it's about someone they know/knew who was on drugs but refused to admit it. Maybe this song is a sort of continuation to that one?

This song is clearly about a rebellious person.Someone welcoming in darkness, disillusion, loftily welcoming in destructive patterns. The lyrics state, "you know it." They refuse to listen to anyone, including the lyricist, someone likely close to him/her, perhaps family, friend or lover. Obviously the rebellious person has been warned numerous times and should know better anyhow, so the lyricist refuses to waste anymore breath, though it clearly bothers her. I see the one in "troubled waters" as being swept away by an addiction, a bad relationship or bad crowd all together.
