Give me the wheel
So we can move a little faster
I make it real
I'm not a glorious disaster
What part of living says you gotta die?
I plan on burning through another nine lives
One more for measure, that's ten for the soul
That never sleeps, so are you ready to go?

Bloodshot against the clear blue sky
Tick tock, I think the well is running dry
My, my, I can't lie
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
Dead scared cause I'm fearless in the head
Bang, bang 'cause the needle's in the red
My, my, I can't lie
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
My, my, my sweet adrenaline

Crack in the vision
Who said the motivation's all wrong?
Not your decision
The detonation of a time bomb
Which way is up
When your high is low?
It's time to find it
Are you ready to go?

Bloodshot against the clear blue sky
Tick tock, I think the well is running dry
My, my, I can't lie
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
Dead scared cause I'm fearless in the head
Bang, bang 'cause the needle's in the red
My, my, I can't lie
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
My, my, my sweet adrenaline

My, my, I just can't lie
It's the speed and the sound that I'm dying to try
My, my, I just can't lie
It's the love of the chase that created the ride

Bloodshot against the clear blue sky
Tick tock, I think the well is running dry
My, my, I can't lie
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
Dead scared cause I'm fearless in the head
Bang, bang 'cause the needle's in the red
My, my, I can't lie
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
My, my, my sweet adrenaline
My, my, (my, my) I can't lie (can't lie)
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
My, my, (my, my) my sweet adrenaline

Im sorry, but you're wrong. The lead singer(Brent) has been sober for 4 years after the birth of his son, so it can't be about drugs. This is about when all of your energy is gone and you need to find that little bit more to keep going. This can relate to playing sports or just going through a tough time in life.

I think this one is pretty obvious; it's about the love of being high and the feelings it gives you. I'm guessing heroin because he's talking about a "needle in the red". Good song, good album. :)

About needing a fix. Could be anything...drugs; sex; gambling; drinkin'; druggin; etc. It's the way s/he gets to "the clear blue sky."

"Bloodshot into the clear blue sky" instead of "We are trying to get some clear blue sky"

[Verse 1:] Give me the wheel, so we can move a little faster. I make it real, I'm not a glorious disaster. What part of living says you gotta die? I plan on burning through another nine lives. One more for measure, that's ten for the soul. That never sleeps, so are you ready to go?

[Chorus:] Bloodshot against the clear blue sky. Tick tock I think the well is running dry. My my, I can't lie. I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline. Dead scared cause I'm fearless in the head. Bang bang cause the needle's in the red. My my, I can't lie. I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline. My my! My sweet a adrenaline.

[Verse 2:] Crack in the vision, who said the motivation's all wrong? Not your decision, the detonation of a time bomb. Which way is up, when your high is low? It's time to find it are you ready to go?

[Chorus:] Bloodshot against the clear blue sky. Tick tock I think the well is running dry. My my, I can't lie. I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline. Dead scared cause I'm fearless in the head. Bang bang cause the needle's in the red. My my, I can't lie. I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline. My my! My sweet a adrenaline.

[Bridge:] My my, just cant lie, It's the speed and the sound that I'm dying to try. My my, just cant lie, It's the love of the chase that created the ride!

This song is about THE moment. The moment in life where you need to find your drive. Where it be in a band, a type of sport, an event... Anything. You need that drive to show the world there is no letting up. Even if you have to burn every ounce of energy you have. That adrenaline - that drive. It keeps you strong. It keeps you going. It's about taking control of your life and doing what you want to do. Let no one stand in the way.

    My Interpretation

This song is most definitely about drug abuse. Since Brent is sober these days, this song either was written in the past or refers to the past. Here are the obvious reasons why this song is a metaphor for being high: A.) "tic-toc, well is running dry" relates to needing a fix B.)"need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline" obviously refers to intravenous drug abuse and since Brent is a recovering heroine addict, this assumption is very likely C.)"dead scared bc im fearless in the head" I interpret as the way hard drug users are constantly testing their limits trying to catch their high D.)"which way is up, when your high is low" is referring to the fact that heroine 'high' is actually a very down, relaxing buzz E.)"bang bang bc the needles in the red" I believe is a metaphor for shooting up (or "banging") F.)"its the love of the chase that created the ride" refers to the known fact that drug abusers are constantly increasing the amount of drugs they do due to tolerance and therefore, are "chasing" that buzz

this is just my interpretation, someone else might think I am totally wrong. but I think that is what makes a song a great one-whenever a song relates to many different people in many different ways.

    My Interpretation

i agree that this song could be about drug addiction. However it could also be about exactly what it says " Adrenaline " And is referring to adrenaline as a drug, because there is a reason the term " adrenaline Junkies " was invented.

Uh just cause he's sober doesn't mean he can't be writing about past experiences. The song is undoubtedly about at the very least. I/ving cocaine possibly even speedballing. Its pretty obvious if you actually pay attention to what is being said.

The Spy
Doors, The
Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
