Paddling Out Lyrics
The waves are warm, the sun is out
The sea is full of agents
The car, the space between the grains
Of sand are automating
There is someone here who laughs too hard at everything
There is someone here who laughs too hard at everything
You say isn't it hard paddling out, paddling out?
You say isn't it hard paddling out, paddling out?
The rattle and the mating crowds
Are out here for the weekend
We had to take our clothes before
The sun was gone completely
I used to lie and think in clouds
Deciding queens and which were doves
And lines I throw myself are thin,
Are shower curtain-thin
There is someone here who laughs too hard at everything
There is someone here who laughs too hard at everything
You say isn't it hard paddling out, paddling out?
You say isn't it hard paddling out, paddling out?
The sea is full of agents
The car, the space between the grains
Of sand are automating
There is someone here who laughs too hard at everything
You say isn't it hard paddling out, paddling out?
Are out here for the weekend
We had to take our clothes before
The sun was gone completely
Deciding queens and which were doves
And lines I throw myself are thin,
Are shower curtain-thin
There is someone here who laughs too hard at everything
You say isn't it hard paddling out, paddling out?

WHAT IS THE SONG ABOUT??? I don't care about the lyrics! I can easily find them somewhere else online, I just want to know what the song is about....
Everyone wants to post the lyrics but no one wants to state the meaning. Its really pretty straight forward. This song intends to capture a single point in time, and thought, rather then a narrative. This song is about privacy/intimacy between two individuals, using the setting of a beach or waterfront. In each of the main lyrics they are talking about how people are everywhere, in the part of the second lyric suggesting it was not always this way. The chorus points out why they need privacy (there is always someone who will make a joke out of this), to which it implicitly states person two has implied "well lets paddle out to sea where no one can hear us"
@richard741 I think this handles the literal interpretation quite well, but I believe that there is a deeper meaning in the song.

The line, "There is someone here who laughs too hard at everything", implies that someone possesses knowledge that others do not or that they see humor in something that others are oblivious to.

Paddling out (to me) seems to refer to the act of seeking enlightenment or striving for success in some way.

When paired with the music video, a story is told. We are shown a man who seems to live a life of mindless self-indulgence. He wakes up from the floor, passed out drunk. He's kind of a fat slob, as indicated by the sloppy milk chugging and his general appearance. The man finds a pair of magic shoes (the shoes represent LSD). The shoes make him happy. After finding the shoes, he is abducted by strange space people who physically alter him, transforming him into the "perfect man". These explorers represent experienced psychedelic users guiding the protagonist through a transformative process. The man seems to be horrified by his transformation at first, but he quickly embraces it as evidenced by his joyous dancing. He is shocked to learn that so many others have gone through a similar transformative process (many contemporary musicians have been deeply influenced by psychedelics).
The music video for this song makes up a 3 part story (comprised of Paddling Out, The Wave, and Devil's Work) which encourages the use of psychedelics as a device to augment life experiences and improve the self. This is my interpretation, but I believe that I can make a convincing argument after analyzing the three videos as a whole.
its about getting out of your headspace. paddling out? it means go beyond your comfort zone, in the interest of what is good for the individual and the community
LOL someone really screwed up the lyrics here big time. Okays lets try these:
The waves are warm The sun is out The sea full of agents They crave the space between the grains of sand and road to me too.
There is someone here who laughs to hard at everything There is someone here who laughs to hard at everything You say isn't it hard? Paddling out. Paddling out You say isn't it hard? Paddling out. Paddling out
The rats alone The mating crowds are out here for the weekend We have to take our clothes before the sun was gone completely I used to lie to thinking crowds to sour queens and which were doves and lines before myself are thinner shower curtain thin
There is someone here who laughs to hard at everything.... There is someone here who laughs to hard at everything.... You say isn't it hard? Paddling out. Paddling out You say isn't it hard? Paddling out. Paddling out
You say isn't it hard? Paddling out. Paddling out You say isn't it hard? Paddling out. Paddling out
What are you on about? , Yeah I can see what you mean, but seriously 'the rats alone mating crowds' makes no sense listen to the song and use the words from the top. They're Swedish so that's why you can't understand them; however they're a top class group great song.
