In a city like mine there's no point in fighting
I close my eyes, see you and me driving
If I am a river, you are the ocean
Got the radio on, got the wheels in motion

We were silenced by the night
But you and I, we're gonna rise again
Divided from the light
I wanna love the way we used to then

I lie in the dark, I feel I'm falling
Feel your hand on my back, hear your voice calling
I'm out of my depth girl, stick close to me
Because the people in this town, they look straight through me

We were silenced by the night
But you and I, we're gonna rise again
Divided from the light
I wanna love the way we used to then

'Cause baby, I'm not scared of this world when you're here
No baby, I'm not scared of this world when you're here

Oh, you and I, we're gonna rise again
Oh, you and I, we're gonna rise again

We were silenced by the night
But you and I, we're gonna rise again
Divided from the light
I wanna love the way we used to then

General CommentSuch a pretty song. :) All Strangeland is perfect.

To my mind, this song is all about making up. Or trying to do it. It can be a couple trying to be in love with each other again after a few years of relationship too, like they used to be.

    My InterpretationI love this song.

I think it's about a shy, unknown guy being having a relationship with a very popular girl. That seems to make the most sense for me.

General CommentI think it's about a person who feels like the only destination is for the two of them to be together. "If I am a river, you are the ocean" strikes me as such.

My InterpretationTo me it just sounds like someone unhappy with their location (city) and the people in it and they just wanna get in their car and leave with their significant other or a friend.

My OpinionThis is just my opinion, and I apologize in advance if this paragraph is grammatically incorrect. So this is just my opinion. I usually read lesbian stories on Wattpad, and this song reminded me of a common scenario in those stories. And my takeaway from this song is that when the world is against you and tries to separate you, even if you have done nothing wrong, you both lie in the dark because you think you are safe. And when you tried to tell the world, they both rejected you. But, as the line goes, "Oh, you and I, we're gonna rise again" together you can rise from the darkness and, you know, fight for each other because, as long as you're together, there's nothing that matters anymore but the both of you. To recapitulate, what I'm saying is that even if the world is against you, even if society doesn't accept the both of you, it's fine as long as you stay together because you know that both of you can fight this messed up society together, just like how this line goes 'I'm not scared of this world when you're here'. That's just my take on this song. I'm sorry if I couldn't explain it better, but I hope you understood it just okay.
