Doesn't Remind Me Lyrics
I walk the streets of Japan till I get lost
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
With a graveyard tan and carrying a cross
Yeah it doesn't remind me of anything
I like studying faces in a parking lot
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like driving backwards in the fog
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
[Chorus]
There's things that I've loved, things that I've lost
Things I held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn, what I need, to forget
I like gypsy moths and radio talk
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like gospel music and canned applause
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like colorful clothing in the sun
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like hammering nails and speaking in tongues
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
[Chorus]
The things that I've loved things that I've lost
Things I've held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn, what I needs...
Bend and shape me
I love the way you are
Slow and sweetly
Like never before
Calm and sleeping
We won't stir up the past
So descretely
We won't look back
[Chorus]
The things that I've loved things that I've lost
The things I held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn, what I need...
I like throwing my voice and breaking guitars
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like playing in the sand what's mine is ours
If it doesn't remind me of anything
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
With a graveyard tan and carrying a cross
Yeah it doesn't remind me of anything
I like studying faces in a parking lot
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like driving backwards in the fog
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
There's things that I've loved, things that I've lost
Things I held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn, what I need, to forget
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like gospel music and canned applause
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like colorful clothing in the sun
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like hammering nails and speaking in tongues
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
The things that I've loved things that I've lost
Things I've held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn, what I needs...
I love the way you are
Slow and sweetly
Like never before
Calm and sleeping
We won't stir up the past
So descretely
We won't look back
The things that I've loved things that I've lost
The things I held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn, what I need...
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like playing in the sand what's mine is ours
If it doesn't remind me of anything

The lyrics to this song may not be what appears above (as of 28 November 2013).
But if they were, it sounds to me like they're about being the kind of person who thinks a lot, or if you are Chris Cornell, thinks a lot about what they've lived and learned and the result is put into songs.
The problem is that all that thinking gets on top of a guy pretty soon and clearing a head space just to relax and be nothing and remember nothing and have everything mean nothing is what is required. So the song is about the small rituals he performs to ditch his memory: lose himself in an unfamiliar crowd; take a bus ride in the fog to nowhere; give up whatever he's blaming himself for or regretting. The energy of the song suggests this takes some effort, but eventually it works.
