Tragedy's A-Comin' Lyrics

Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, there's no place to run and hide
Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, damn my bastard pride

From the middle of nowhere he rides in all alone
From the edges of somewhere he's grinding flesh and bone
From the fringes of darkness he plays a steady hand
And the tinges of poison come seepin' from his glands

Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, there's no place to run and hide
Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, damn my bastard pride

If you ask him nicely perhaps he'll go away
Just move politely and beg him not to stay
With a mouth full of garbage he spits into your eye
And an ear full of pity he'll teach ya' how to die

Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, there's no place to run and hide
Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, God damn my bastard pride

She stands before us with Bible in her grasp
When she opens her mouth up you can hear the wretched rasp
Like a bucket of barnacles she's abrasive to the skin
Like the ignorant masses that hope some day she'll win

Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, there's no place to run and hide
Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, God damn my bastard pride

When tragedy's poundin' hard against your door
And the cancer's eatin' at your inner core
You're feelin' helpless, can't control the game
Do you fade away softly or go out in a ball of flames, 'cause

Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, there's no place to run and hide
Tragedy's a'comin' and I cannot step aside
No I cannot step aside, God damn this bastard pride

Makes me think of Sarah Palin (which wouldn't be a surprise coming from Les). For funny-ness listen closely at the end you can hear a dog barking, at least what sounds like it.

Also, Mr. Larry LaLonde can play a mean guitar, in case you were unaware of this.

He's basically talking about coming collapse of nations/sovereignty by the illuminati...the dominators of culture, religion, science, etc. who run things behind the curtains of governments, corporations, churches, and what not. They operate "from the fringes of darkness" and are guiding humanity toward a one-world government that they control. They're doing it in stages...piece by piece so that people will not be aware of it until it's too late (that's what he means when he says "he plays a steady hand").

I agree with miramarjuice about the reference to Sarah Palin. That's the first name that came to my mind as well. But really, I think he's just talking about anyone who uses religion to swindle the ignorant masses. Sarah Palin is just a current example of someone who is a conduit between the masses and the illuminati.

Les is also pointing out how many of us feel caught because we can't really do anything about the coming New World Order, since we have no real power anymore. So do we just quietly sit back and be led to the FEMA concentration camps, or do we protest and risk losing our lives? It's a hard decision, because our pride gets in the way of our rational mind which would normally tell us "well, we can't control that stuff, so we shouldn't worry about what we can't control".

Very interesting song :)

@rejesterd Holy shit, I need some of whatever you're smoking/ingesting.
