...And the Promise of the Truth Lyrics

Into the sea, the shining sea
You were taken away from me
So, so far away
As our good son set today

Is there a better way?

In these memories we'll be forever
Safe from the world we'll see

If we stand now together
I'll give my heart
For the promise of the truth
It's now or never
I'll give my life
When there's nothing left to lose

At any price we're lost
Paid more than was the cost
For freedom we send our own
Into the distance
Lights unknown

Nothing is worth this now

Cover art for ...And the Promise of the Truth lyrics by Butterfly Effect, The

This is my favourate Butterfly Effect song and there is so much to this song that deserves to be discussed..

WITHOUT getting into the in's and out of world politics put this song in the context of how Bush pushed for Iraq from a western PoV, how the everyday people are sending (and loosing) their own son's to fight for a cause unknown

"i'll give my heart for the promise of the truth it's now or never"

Basically the families of lost souls are willing to give everything for the truth and if it's not disclosed soon it will be lost in history and never happen.

"for freedom we send out own into the distance lights unknown"

Unknown to military families and the rest of us as to what is really going on and what kind of light is been cast on the conflicts around the world. (to cast light on something is to bring clarity to a topic)

"at any price we've lost paid more than was the cost"

When will it all end, what will be at the other end of conflict and is all this pain worth the cost.

Extremely beautiful song and raises some very relevant topics
