You Got a Killer Scene There, Man Lyrics
I don't mean to make obscene but
Even the mob, know what the hell I mean
The knot is tight on my blindfold
I got my flesh full of blood, I hate Rock N Roll
Some think too much, then come too soon
I just curse the sun, so I can howl at the moon
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah, da
Don't wanna love you no more
Don't wanna love you less
I wanna be crushed by your sweet caress
What's the fuckin' difference, we all gonna die
You gonna do something killer?
C'mon, give it a try
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah
Eeh, ah, ooh, ahh
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah, yeah, ah
Got no good plans but a good idea
Let's put this town in my rearview mirror
Yeah, I got enemies, but they don't know (fuck 'em, man)
They won't get no glory on that side of the hole
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah
Eeh, ah, ooh, ahh
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, ahh
We are are united, by drifting alone
This is the army of none, got no flag, got no home
Just witches and scabs, an awful mess
I confess (I confess)
Let's do it again, sing
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah
Eeh, ah, ooh, ahh
Eeh, ah, ooh, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Even the mob, know what the hell I mean

Awesome song...can\'t believe no one has commented on it...
I think this song is about how everybody sort of lives their life in their own \'scene\' but eventually we all reach the same point which is death..
Well united by drifting alone This is the army of none Got no flag, got no home Just riches and scabs And awfulness I confess Let\'s do it again, said
^ life
I think it's more of how your music scene can become like a gang. Some scenes restrict you more then anything and then you can't do what you want. He's rejecting scenes as a whole.
"But even the mob know what the hell I mean" - Get out while you can type of attitude.
"The knot is tight on my blindfold" - Stuck in a situaion of blind faith.
First let me correct some lyrics: 'I don't mean to make obscene' 'Some think to much then come to soon' 'You gonna do something killer C'mon give it a try' 'Lets put this town in my rearview mirror' 'We are united by drifting alone' ‘Just witches and scabs an awful mess’ At least that’s what it says in the Japanese liner notes. For the meaning I believe it's about the music scenes. Some interviews I’ve read with Josh include him saying how he likes bands that play what they want and don’t conform and that makes those bands similar, ‘We are united by drifting alone’. All the lyrics can be traced to his views on music that I have read. Mainly about just doing what you feel like and what you think works, don’t conform to any particular sound or writing style, just do what feels natural and right. There’s more I want to say but I don’t want to make this too long.
Actually OpiumForThePeople it isn't "But even I don't know what the hell I mean" seeing as you can clearly make out the posted lyrics. Furthermore it makes perfect sense, I don't understand how it can't make sense to you.
Apparently Shirley Manson sings on this song as well. But i cant hear her at all.....
Am I the only one who thinks this song is just blatantly sexual? Glory hole, blindfold, flesh full of blood? I think it's possibly the sexiest song ever recorded and that some of the lyrics are just there for texture and sound, and to add to the general mood.
@metlab YESSSSSSSS This song is so fucking sexy.

'They won't get no glory On that side of the hole'
The people who don't like what he's about dont bother him too much, he can get away from them easily. Even if they don't him, or his scene, or his music, they arent going to get any glory by not liking it, but while he's playing guitar and singing, he's getting glory, regardless of what the people against it think.
Kind of implies that he enjoys it a bit, he know full well what deal theyre getting.
For some reason, I feel that "What's the fuckin difference We all gonna die You gonna do something killer C'mon give it a try"
could be about drugs. Like, what does it matter that we fuck ourselves up, we're gonna die anyway, wanna do something wild, do a line. But I don't know how much QOTSA sing about drugs anymore.
I can't believe you guys were arguing about "even the mob know what the hell I mean"! C'mon, it's plain as day!

This song is just pure sex, so dirty, so rock and roll (despite the line 'I hate rock and roll). Yes, he is talking about the 'scene' and all that, but his vocals and the music is just screaming for it to be played in a stripclub. No surprise that it appeared on Season 3 of Californication in a stripclub scene...
Favourite lines?
'Don't wanna love you no more Don't wanna love you less I wanna be crushed by your sweet caress'
Personally I think it's about his relationship with Brody and the outside world's reaction. You may recall she was previously married to Tim Armstrong, and there was an absolute whirlwind of outrage and press when Josh announced his relationship with Brody. The music scene and press were very vocal about it and many people wanted Brody and Josh dead. Tim Armstrong apparently made death threats and I read in a few interviews Brody mentioning Tim being under the illusion of having 'mob' connections in California.

I think the title says it all. "You got a killer scene there, man." It just oozes sarcasm. And the line "Even the mob know what the hell I mean." My first thought was "This is a dig at Tim's behaviour and intelligence."
Also this verse:
Don't wanna love you no more Don't wanna love you less I wanna be crushed by your sweet caress What's the fuckin difference We all gonna die You gonna do something killer C'mon give it a try
To me it sounds like the first half is directed at Brody - This situation doesn't reflect on you, I want your love regardless- and the second half is directed at Tim for the death threats.
Also the lines about wanting to get the hell out of a town because it's pissing you off, the dig at those who think too much and come too soon... to me it just screams "Tim, shut your face, I'm not afraid of you. Bring it on." Even the animal howling... so primal, and not to mention so reminiscent of Howlin Wolf who as we all know, feared no-one and wasn't afraid to take charge of a situation.
He also mentions scabs - Tim Armstrong made reference to the photographs of Brody and Josh kissing as like a scab being ripped off of a wound of his. He also referred to Brody as a 'witch' in another interview I read. Tim and Brody were married in a Wiccan service in the mountains in Las Vegas.
I couldn't give a shit what it's about or the drama of the situation they all ended up in. But if I was a betting lady, I'd put money on this song being about Josh's relationship with Brody and some of the reactions to it he had to endure.
Yeah thats the idea i have about it, but its such a cool song, one of my favorites on lullabies.
