Pig's in Zen Lyrics

Pig's in the mud
When he tires
Pig's in zen
Pig's in zen
Pig is nude
Unashamed
Pig's in zen
Pig's in zen
Talkin' bout the pig
The pig
The pig - uh
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pig
Goddamn pig!
Pig mounts sow
When he's wound
Pig's in zen
Pig's in zen
Pig eats shit
But only when he hungers
Pig's in zen
Pig's in zen
Talkin' bout the pig
The pig
The pig - uh
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pig
Goddamn pig

It is about how Perry feels almost envious (!) of pigs, because they are closer to paradise than he will ever see. They don't worry about love or other peoples opinions, if they want to fuck, they just go for it, they don't care about how they look and a pig is never happier than when it is rolling about in it's own shit, basically the only thing that is genuinely free. He also talks about how we are not truelly free as long as we care about others, because we are restrained on some level due to our feelings of responsibility to other people, something a pig doesn't have, a pig doesn't care that there are others in pain around him, as long as he is ok.

@guiffporn....YOUR A FUCKING IDIOT!!!!!!

@Temptation777, "Your" one to talk!

@quiffporn: Perry has clearly never read Charlotte's Web or seen the movie Babe :p

guiffporn pretty much hit the nail on the head. I think the idea is to compare how we pursue happieness in the wrong direction. We go for more when less can really be better.

My final words to song meanings, that was ZEN!!!!

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading all the meanings here... It's the comparison of 'pig' to 'soldier'. Take another read... it's all there...

Yeah, so roses are red I made up the rest If you got some big fucking secret Then why don't you sing me something? I'm in the midst of a trauma Leave a message- I'll call you back Leave it by the bed Some people should die That's just unconscious knowledge

Because, because the bigger you get The wider you're spread You gotta depend on me Now your vision is dead The more your dream is dead Visions... It gets sucked...

"The bigger you get The wider you're spread You gotta depend on me Now your vision is dead"

I could be completely wrong about this, but this makes me think of how a man seeking power might start to cease it, take over a nation, then find he desires further power, and starts to conquer himself an empire, as the empire gets bigger, he can't directly control the same proportion of it, and starts having to depend on others to help with the running of the empire, thereby reducing his power, because others are taking care of a lot of the organisation. With the reduction of power, the dictator's whole vision of power has failed... But maybe I'm just completely misinterpreting...

I feel like some people may read the lyrics and just assume it's about cops or fighting the MANNN or whatever just because it's Jane's Addiction but you have to remember that Perry is a real person who faces every day problems just like the rest of us, and interpret the lyrics however you feel you should, but I feel that the lyrics could be as simple as this:

You meet a person and they feel, for some reason, that they are bigger than you and their thoughts and opinions matter more than yours and they're all wrapped up in their ego and they think they know everything (I know about pain and suffering and being cold) but they have nothing to back it up so they just play it off like they know what they're talking about. While at the same time you know what's up and you know a faker when you see one and you expose them, in your head.

Also I feel like the lyrics were written half from the faker's point of view (I'm right and you're wrong) and half from Perry's point of view (If you've got some big secret why don't you sing me something?/How he feels, that's proof for him)

OR... vice versa.
