Leaving So Soon? Lyrics

Ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah!
Ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah!

You must think I'm a fool
So prosaic and awkward and all
D'you think you've got me down?
D'you think I've never been out of this town?

Do I seem too eager to please to you now?
You don't know me at all
I can't turn it on, turn off like you now
I'm not like you now

Now that you're here
I bet you're wishing you could disappear
I'm trying to be kind
I get the feeling you're just killing time

You look down on me
Don't you look down on me now
You don't know me at all
A slap in the face
In the face for you now
Just might do now

You're leaving so soon
Never had a chance to bloom
But you were so quick
To change your tune
Don't look back
If I'm a weight around your neck
Cos if you don't need me
I don't need you

Ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah!
Ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah!

Leaving so soon, soon
Leaving, leaving so, soon

You're leaving so soon
Never had a chance to bloom
But you were so quick
To change your tune
Don't look back
If I'm a weight around your neck
Cos if you don't need me
Then I don't need you

Ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah!

I kinda see this as the next part of ''Nothing In My Way'' because in that song he is thinking about leaving her but was scared, but now he has (in this song) he feels better about doing so.

This was one of my instant favourites in the new record. It reminds me a bit of 'This Is The Last Time'. The guy wants to break free from the pain this woman (that doesn't seem to care that much) brings to his life. He is mad that she didn't even bother to know him better, moving on so quickly when he was still kind of stuck. I love it, I can relate...

My interpretation is that she's a posh bitch or something and just used him. So now she's looking at him like a redneck, like an ignorant-now-enough-for-fer so she's leaving him. And he sees that she neer cared about him so he does not care about her.

Great track, please be a single, pleeeeeeease!

i think this one is simply about a break up, and that they could have been so much more together, but now she has gone, he hurts, but he will get over it!!

he really did care for her, but if she wants to break up, and you have to wonder how much she cared for him, then he can't do anything about it. He doesn't want her coming back saying it was a mistake, lets get back together, as he doesn't want to fall for her again!

very single-like sounds like he's standing up for himself against her. Leaving so soon is sort of sarcastic I think, he's fed up of her and is glad she's leaving him

I think

its like even though they were together, she never even tried in the relationship, and when something new came by she immediately left him for it, "so quick to change your tune." As if he feels like he was a last resort.

I love the way you can hear them take a huge breath before they start singing, right in the first seconds.

And there's actually supposed to be a question mark in the title, as in "Leaving So Soon?"

This song is about, in my opinion, a girl who uses a guy for a last resort, and then leaves him for something better. The singer, however, thinks she could have had a great time with him and never even gave him a chance, but he doesn't want her back anyway.
