I really love this song. One of my top 3 Joshyboy songs. Yeah, I'm extremely obsessed with Josh Ritter. I just adore the way he sings this song.
To me this song is all about comprimising yourself in a relationship but getting nothing in return. Its about realising love is not enough and you can pretend to yourself all you like but at the end of the day sometimes love just isn't enough. i think Josh is talking about a girl whom he sees has the whole world at her feet and she's using it to gain advantage though she might not deserev it. He does love her, he doesnt know what to do and how to end it because despite her faults, he still loves her. I really think this is just the woman's last straw. I don't think that she's really taking advantage of him, necessarily. Sounds like she's been trying, but she's had to fake it, and not hiding it well. Hence she's a "bad actress". She's to blame for the end of the relationship, but it's not like she is completely a bad guy.
