I think this song is totally about being lonely after losing a boyfriend or girlfriend. Now that you are on your own, your shyness prevents you from being able to meet new people. So you go out and try to mingle but it doesn't really help and you go home lonely again. So you feel like its too late to even try, and you'll just have to be alone forever.
Again another wonderful cover. It was a Smiths song origanilly I believe. It in a way comforts me being single... lol
Yep, the Smiths. SRC actually did a pretty good cover of it, it's been covered a dozen times and most version are crap (T.a.t.u., and there's a shitty mix being used as the Charmed intro now). Hundred Reasons do an okay job as well.
Essentially it's about loneliness and hope vs. hopelessness. There's also some homosexual underpinings, but lots of Morrissey stuff has that.
awesome song...i agree it is about lonliness and all...best cover of smith's version, actually to be honest i think it is better than the smith's version, my opinion.
