The Bells of Rhymney Lyrics

Oh, what will you give me?"
Say the sad bells of Rhymney
"Is there hope for the future?"
Say the brown bells of Murther
"Who made the might on Earth?
Say the black bells of Ronda
"And, who killed the minor?"
Say the green bells of Blantyre

"Even God is uneasy"
Say the morse bells of Swansea
"And what will you give me?"
Say the sad bells of Rhymney
"So worried, sister's white"
Say the silver bells of White
"And what will you give me?"
Say the sad bells of Rhymney

I think the main thing that differentiates Cher’s version from say the Oyster Band’s is how absolutely terrible her singing is. The timing is dreadful, the pitch if wrong, the ability to hit a note is just not there. No wonder she went to autotune for her 90’s comeback — her singing is amateur.

...and I forgot to say her pronunciation of Rhymney is so wide of the mark it makes me thing that no one involved in this record had any idea. This record should have not made it to vinyl - too many nodding heads.
