Yeah
I ain't here to be anyone else
I'm here to be me
Ain't nobody stopping me on my climb
If you hating, watch and see
Wake up every day
I'm feelin like a king, yeah
Every single day is a fight
I’ve been workin in the ring, yeah
Sitting at the table
I know what I bring, yeah
When I get my meeting that label gon' hear me sing, yeah yeah
And my dreams about to take off
Sick of being forgotten in the corner like a gray cloth
Thinkin imma give up and your way off
Cause, I set my sights a lot higher than just the hayloft
I came up with a chip on my shoulder (Shoulder)
Feeling like a kid but my soul is way older
Starin in the mirror for hours till I see a soldier
You gon' make it one day, better do what I told ya
You only get one life, you better make this one matter
Don't let them crabs pull you down, keep climbing up your ladder
Let the haters hate, you're doing great
Keep your head up
Remember who you do it for and get your bread up
I ain't here to be anyone else
I'm here to be me
Ain't nobody stopping me on my climb
If you hating, watch and see
Cause this is my moment
I'm about to own it
Ain't nobody stopping me
The place that I'm goin
You can try
You can try
But ain't nobody stopping me
There's days I spread the happiness I should keep for myself
I guess I've always had the mindset of sharing your wealth
So when I make the money from this music you know where it's goin
First my mama, then the family, then the people growing with me
No love for those who miss me
There's no benefit for those of you wasn't stickin with me
Investing in me, telling me to keep goin, when no one picked me, come on it isn't tricky
Cause people turned their back on me like they wanted the lights off
That's why they'll never see I haven't taken a single night off
So you can write off me but I'll never read it
Cause your hand has never been the one that's feeding me
Never believed in me so I did this to prove you wrong
I become strong now look how far we've gone
Yeah that's we, the fans, the fam and me
Sweet like a tangerine seeing the growth in me like Pantene
I ain't here to be anyone else
I'm here to be me
Ain't nobody stopping me on my climb
If you hating, watch and see
Cause this is my moment
I'm about to own it
Ain't nobody stopping me
The place that I'm goin
You can try
You can try
But ain't nobody stopping me
Running out of breath like when I ran out of options
Music’s been the only thing keeping me conscious
I'm a boulder that's been rolling pickin up speed
I’m growing yeah I know I ain't where I'm 'sposed to be
But imma get there one day
Yeah imma get there one day
"We always knew you'd make it Dalton"
Yeah that's what they'll all say
Can't help but smile and nod when you listen
I spoke my dream into existence
Then I brought it to fruition
I’m gone
I ain't here to be anyone else
I'm here to be me
Ain't nobody stopping me on my climb
If you hating, watch and see
Cause this is my moment
I'm about to own it
Ain't nobody stopping me
The place that I'm goin
You can try
You can try
But ain't nobody stopping me
You can try
You can try
But ain't nobody stopping me

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
