Crosseyed Cat Lyrics

Yeah, I'm so sorry
I got to leave my woman alone
Yeah, I'm so sorry
I got to leave my baby alone
Well, you know she got a crosseyed cat
Livin' without that man in her home

Every time I start to see this woman
He's in the corner growlin' or layin' down
Every time I start to see this woman
He's in the corner growlin' or layin' down

Yeah, you know he's too big to be a house cat
And he's too small to be a lion
There's somethin' wrong

Yeah, I stop by my baby's house
He start jumpin' from wall to wall
Yeah, I stop by my baby's house
He start jumpin' from wall to wall
Then he's lookin' crosseyed at me
Sit back in the corner and licked his paw

Yeah, my woman got a crosseyed cat
Livin' there with her in her home
Yeah, my woman got a crosseyed cat
Livin' there with her in her home

Oh, you know I try so hard to do her right
But it seems like everything I do is wrong

Regretfully, he's got to stop hooking up with this chick, because she's crazy. She's great, but it's to the point where he's jumpy, waiting for something to go wrong. And it's annoying because she's not CRAZY crazy, where anyone would know immediately, gotta get away from that. But it also doesn't seem to be workable long term, so you just have to pick a spot to jump off the ride. Whatever nuttiness is in her mind, whether she's anxious, depressed or just having a bad day, she makes it about him. No matter how hard he tries to please her, can't do it. She can't be appeased. Time to go.

I wonder what that other other man is doing in the song, in the line "Livin' without that man in her home". Maybe he's he's singing: ''Livin' with her there man, in her home'' ? Anyway, that's what I'm gonna sing. (I just joined a bluesband!)

There's gotta be a sex metaphor in there but a pretty odd one ...

@Chi-Chief I heard a dirtier version on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE8lNK9ZZw8 Instead of "sit back in the corner and lick his paws," it's "sittin' back in the corner and lickin' his balls."

@Chi-Chief :-)
