On A Train Lyrics

Thanks, I'm fine
But I've nothing to give
But I just have to leave
Enough!
I would rather live on a train

And now, I'm dying
'Cause I don't wanna be here
I don't wanna be seen
Enough!
I would rather live on a train

Yes, I'm lying
If I tell you that I'm right
Oh baby, I'm lying
If I tell you that I'm right

Thanks I'm down
'Cause I got nothing to lose
I'm alone on a cruise
Enough!
I would rather live on a train

And now I'm crying
Cause I don't wanna be here
I don't wanna be seen
Enough!
I would rather live on a train

Yes, I'm lying
If I tell you that I'm right
Oh baby, I'm lying
If I tell you that I'm right

Destination over on this train
Destination over on the train
You got nothing to lose
It's up to you

This is a great little dance tune. The film clip makes me feel like I'm going on a journey, floating in a dream or - if you're so inclined - on a drug trip.

I've seen lyrics posted differently. Some say "I would rather LIVE on a train". Others say "I would rather LEAVE on a train". Not sure what is correct. I'd like to get my hands on the album and if there's a lyrics booklet in it, bonus!

My Opinion

Lyrics. These were taken from the official lyrics booklet of the album. I'm still not sure about the chorus. I think he says "if I tell you THAT I'm right" but yeah... Occasionally lyrics booklets get it wrong. It could be his accent though (when he says "seen" it sounds weird, as does "head off") because he's French lol.

Thanks, I'm fine But I've nothing to give But I just have to leave, head off I would rather live on a train

And now, I'm dying 'Cause I don't wanna be here I don't wanna be seen, head off I would rather live on a train

Yes, I lie If I tell you I'm right Oh baby, I lie If I tell you I'm right

Thanks I'm down 'Cause I've nothing to lose I'm alone in a cruise, head off I would rather live on a train

And now I'm crying Cause I don't wanna be here I don't wanna be seen, head off I would rather live on a train

Yes, I lie If I tell you I'm right Oh baby, I lie If I tell you I'm right Oh baby, I lie If I tell you I'm right Oh baby, I lie If I tell you I'm right

Destination nowhere on this train Destination nowhere on a train You got nothing to lose Except you

Yes, I lie If I tell you I'm right Oh baby, I lie If I tell you I'm right Oh baby, I lie If I tell you I'm right Oh baby, I lie If I tell you I'm right

Lyric Correction

It sounds like the singer is depressed or sad about his life (the verses). And in the chorus it's like he's saying "I'm lying to you if I tell you I'm (al)right" because he's NOT alright. Perhaps the train references symbolise him wanting to get away from his life? When you travel on a train you are travelling away from something. That's just my two cents.
