Absolutely awesome song. It's easy to figure out. He's meet someone and they are about to start a new relationship. He doesn't want to rush into it, and hope that they both stay happy forever.

I don't love the song, but it's got some amazing lyrics.
It's when you expect too much from someone you will love and when meet that someone things turn to be not what expected, you get hurt badly (And your whole wide world, in a moment, comes undone You're just walking around then suddenly Everything that you thought that you knew about love is gone You find out it's all been wrong)
From being hurt in his past relationship and scars are everywhere reminding him of the past, but he still meets someone else and he finds hope in her no matter what happened in the past (And all my scars don't seem to matter anymore 'Cause they led me here to you) his scars do not matter as he find at the hands of some new and in her he finds true love and that makes him to start believing that everything will work out as it should (But I'm starting to believe that This could be the start of something good)
He is just expressing his feelings and experience in relationship that's why he praying that his words will not scare anyone, he does not want anyone to be scared to start new relationship even if you were hurt because life has some ups and downs.
This is my favorite song by Daughtry and the video is amazing. My view of the song is that you are in a relationship with someone and it didn't turn out the way you thought it would. You can't leave that person because you pray that it will get better but even years later it's the same. Then out of the blue someone comes into your life that changes your views of love. You try not to get too close because your current relationship is still there and your not sure how the new person in your life feels. There is also the issue of not wanting the same things to happen that you have sustained in your long term relationship. Sometimes it's best that your new flame is close and will be there if you need them when times are tough.
