I think this song is about moving on from all the bad things in life holding you back. If I'm wrong, oh, well. It's still a beautiful track.
I LOVE this song, it is one of my all-time favorite songs, Bjork is one of my favorite artists, she's amazing.
My interpretation is that it's about the Winter Solstice and the changes regarding day/night light/dark that occur during that time, It's about how we're all connected through the earth, like the way a beating heart is interconnected with all the other bodily organs. And how, because of this oneness and interconnectedness, you can hold a pearl in the palm of your hand, and really be holding the whole earth in your hand. And the whole universe is within you - "you are a light-bearer, receiving radiance from others." The universe within you shines outwardly, if you allow your inner light to flow outward. And you can connect with other human beings and creatures, receiving there inner light, and cultivating the oneness of life, the earth, the universe, the light and the dark. That's my 2 cents, anyway. I LOVE this song. It may be my favorite ever.
