Um momento
Qualquer lugar, um acontecimento
Qualquer horário, uma pressentimento
Um certo olhar, um certo envolvimento
E tudo veio acontecer
Um sorriso
Qualquer lugar, inferno ou paraíso
Qualquer horário e eu só penso nisso
Um certo olhar e eu piso movediço
Eu tudo pude antever
Bem antes de te conhecer
Bem antes de você nascer
Nos versos em que escrevi, prevendo,
O grande amor que esperei vivendo
Bem antes de tudo acontecer
Um pouco antes desse amanhecer
Naquele instante em que acordei pra ver
Que eu quero a vida com você.
Um lamento
Mesmo lugar, o mesmo apartamento
O mesmo horário um lento desalento
Um certo olhar e mais um sofrimento
E tudo veio esmorecer
Um sorriso
Uma mentira, da idade ou do proscrito
Uma história e eu não acretido!
Um certo olhar e eu então repito
Que conseguiu me convencer
Tudo depois de te entender
Tudo depois de você crescer
Nos versos que reescrevi sorvendo
O grande amor que esperei vivendo
Bem antes de tudo emudecer
Um pouco antes de você descer
Naquele instante em que acordei pra crer
Que a sua vida é só você!
Um momento
Qualquer lugar, um arrependimento
Qualquer horário, um lento desalento
O mesmo olhar, o mesmo envolvimento
E tudo volta a acontecer

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
