Let's Roll Just Like We Used To Lyrics
Out of my garden, passed the battle cruiser
We jumped over cemetery gates
There on the wasteland, we saw the horizon
I noticed your pupils dilate
They’re at it again, let’s roll just like we used to
In fields when we were young our hearts got lost in the circles
We had it all, a rise and fall
Came from the booze and the fags generation
And prayed for the mayhem to start
You said you were foolish but I saw the genius
In pulling the stitches apart
They’re at it again, let’s roll just like we used to
In fields when we were young our hearts got lost in the circles
We had it all, a rise and fall
So raise your glass to the ones who have passed
And the ones that got away, oh
They’re at it again, let’s roll just like we used to
In fields when we were young our hearts got lost in the circles
We had it all, a rise and fall
I saw her face, way out in space
We jumped over cemetery gates
There on the wasteland, we saw the horizon
I noticed your pupils dilate
In fields when we were young our hearts got lost in the circles
We had it all, a rise and fall
And prayed for the mayhem to start
You said you were foolish but I saw the genius
In pulling the stitches apart
In fields when we were young our hearts got lost in the circles
We had it all, a rise and fall
So raise your glass to the ones who have passed
And the ones that got away, oh
They’re at it again, let’s roll just like we used to
In fields when we were young our hearts got lost in the circles
We had it all, a rise and fall
I saw her face, way out in space

I think of this one as an ode to an estranged childhood friend. That's just me though.
I feel that it's about being younger... with some references to drug use maybe - "pupils dilate", "way out in space" and also with the action of "roll" ... as in to roll a joint maybe.... A comment on British culture, we really are a fags and booze generation here, but I don't think Kasabian are commenting about it in a negative way... more in a reminiscent way. It seems Tom or Serge feel like they could do with a night similar to their earlier days maybe... "lets roll just like we used to " I realllly like this album.
Rolling is slang for using ecstasy, and ecstasy is a drug that makes the pupils dilate. The impression I get regarding this song is that they are reflecting on youth, on days when they partied together. Jumping over cemetery gates is about ignoring eventual mortality. I think having a rise and fall relates both to ecstasy use (coming up and the often depressing coming down) and also to life. We are in our prime in youth, and then as we age we fall.

Ecstasy culture in general is kind of at odds with alcohol culture, the two experiences are very different and I think that is the reference about the booze generation. I think pulling stitches apart relates to the issues that may come up and be resolved while "rolling" (for example, the way ecstasy use may benefit those who suffer from PTSD).
Overall - nostalgic, reflective on youth in a positive manner.
First off 'They're at it again' could mean anything, not sure.
Love this intro though, booze and fags generation, maybe hankering for a more innocent time before it all got quite idealistic and irresponsible.
It's about clarity, purity when you were young perhaps, dunno.
Love this one!! it resemble a lot in my eyes - talks about the younger days where we lived free and truly believed in that...
Live FREE or Die !
This song is all about Ecstasy - "rolling" is common slang for taking ecstasy/MDMA. Once you realise this, it all makes sense: "I noticed your pupils dilate", "a rise and fall" etc
