Fallout Lyrics
Melting asphalt
Running start
Winded tongue ties from a
Heatstruck heart
Are you still coursing through my veins
Or is this rain
Whispered message
Ear to ear
Tongued transmissions
Made unclear
Are you still carving out a man?
Is that the plan, is that the plan?
If I could fall out
Of love with you
I need to fall out
Of love with you
Please let me fall out
Of love with you
Ooh it's magic,
We somehow imagined
But I don't pretend to
Know what's inside you
If I could fall out
Of love with you
I need to fall out
Of love with you
Please let me fall out
Of love with you
Running start
Winded tongue ties from a
Heatstruck heart
Or is this rain
Ear to ear
Tongued transmissions
Made unclear
Is that the plan, is that the plan?
Of love with you
I need to fall out
Of love with you
Please let me fall out
Of love with you
We somehow imagined
But I don't pretend to
Know what's inside you
Of love with you
I need to fall out
Of love with you
Please let me fall out
Of love with you

At my opinion, this song is about an impossible love with someone really close like a best friend, and he knows that that would ruin what they have, and it's something that is hurting him.
What do they have? Fools worry about what they have when in reality they have nothing.
What do they have? Fools worry about what they have when in reality they have nothing.
it's not so much about falling in love with drugs, but the narrator's recognition of the potentially devastating effects of drugs, and his desire to wean himself off drugs.
this song is in two parts. the first illustrates the effects of drugs, both fantastic and confusing, while in the second he expresses his yearning to end his dependence on drugs.
the song begins with his hallucinations. he describes the 'melting asphalt', which is really him imagining the ground melting away beneath his feet, then he asks if the drugs are still 'coursing through [his] veins' or if he's confused it with 'rain'. so he's on a real funky trippy trip, then we start to see the sinister side of taking drugs:
'are you still carving out a man?'
this could mean two things:
I believe the lyrics refer to number 2 here. he fears that drug addiction will hollow him out and cause a gradual decay in his lifestyle -- hit, waiting for a hit, hit, waiting for a hit.
now we move onto the second part of the song. he wants to 'fall out of love with you'; 'you' presumably refers to the sensations that the drugs provide him with. he's seen through the 'imagined' 'magic', and now knows that it's nothing but the release of chemicals, though he still doesn't understand the full ramifications of drug-taking, as is shown when he says he doesn't 'pretend to know what's inside [them]'.
it's interesting that the title is 'fallout' (noun) instead of 'fall out' (verb). 'fallout' means 'adverse side-effects of a situation', which again refers to the sinister side of drug-taking. he juxtaposes this beautifully against his description of a trip.
guys, sorry but it is not about love of someone... it is about falling in love with drugs... here we go:
Winded tongue ties from a Heatstruck heartresembling the effects, possibly of dope..
Are you still coursing through my veins Or is this rainthe main part which makes me think of the song written for dope, especially..
If I could fall out Of love with you I need to fall out Of love with you Please let me fall out Of love with youwell i ll explain that part with lyrics of MGMT who are on LSD :) they say:
but really there is no trip at all, that doesn't result in a fallthe narrator wants to get rid of cause sooner or later, you get addicted, start to fall...
Ooh it's magic, We somehow imagined But I don't pretend to Know what's inside youhere it's more clear i guess.. love of someone isnt expected to magical.. it can be devastating, charming, awesome, brilliant but i have never heard of a love, which is magical :) and 'we somehow imagined' tells me about imagination, with hallucinations :)
maybe im wrong, maybe right.. at first i thought the same with you guys, but then i realized its about something different :) anyhow, whatever it means, the song is touching and one of my favourite with a voice that I dont even need to comment :)
'heatstruck heart' is a reference from Shakespeare's Macbeth. In the famous 'dagger of the mind' soliloquy, I interpret it to mean 'madness'. Respect to the well read Palomo- the chief indian himself
