Polish Girl Lyrics

It's been at least another year
And still I haven't got the chance to say
Always rolling off the tongue
Never said but nearly sung about a million ways

Every photograph and story
Trickled through the lengthy web of friends
I overthought but understood
Distant look but looking good
And not the other way

But you fail to remember
But you fail to remember

Do I still cross your mind?
Your face still distorts the time

Do I still cross your mind?
Your face still distorts the time

With heat struck afternoons long through
Those idle dreams go back to you
The echo seems so low displaced
Everything that's on your face, I'm drifting off to

Bored of mere flirtation
That's what's made up constellations that I've sought
Was this only in my head
Just like most things go misread
When overthought

But you fail to remember
But you fail to remember

Do I still cross your mind?
Your face still distorts the time

================================================ It's been at least another year And still I haven't got the chance to say Always rolling off the tongue Never said but nearly sung about a million ways

Every photograph and story Trickled through the lengthy web of friends I overthought but understood Distant looks but looking good And not the other way

But you, you, fail to remember But you, you, fail to remember

Do I still cross your mind? Your face still distorts the time

Basically he talks about an old love (like chattenoir said), or some type of love that was left without any closure. To me, it's almost like there was love between two people that never quite came to the surface, and then was cut short by something (could be distance, whatever would make sense, really).

The whole "But you fail to remember / Do I still cross your mind?" makes me think that the subject of the song has moved on, or at least makes it seem like they have.

"Your face still distorts the time" just re-emphasizes the time that's passed.

I think this is just talking about nostalgia and how he misses her/those memories.

================================================ (?) of infiltrations That what was made of constellations that I've saw Was this only in my head Just like most things go misread When overthought

Can't say much here other than it seems like he's starting to doubt whether there really was anything to begin with; that he was just overthinking it the whole time.

This could also go the other way: he might have at first believed there wasn't anything between them, but now he realizes he was overthinking things and it's clear that they had some chemistry (or whatever). "I overthought but understood / Distant looks but looking good" from the second verse also expresses this doubt/realization.

dude you are so totally right!

(?) of infiltrations is motivate flirtation and the next line is the rest was made of constellations that I saw

This song reminds me of an experience I myself had in Poland, which is why I like this song so much.

The writer/singer met a girl and they had a few great days together (maybe even just one) and then he left and because of fate they never saw each other again, she might have moved away or maybe he couldn't return to Poland to see her. He thinks about her all the time and brief, but beautiful, time they had together and starts to wonder if he has over thought what their time meant to her and what it actually was. He just wants to know if she still thinks about him the way he thinks about her.

My Interpretation

I think it's about an old love, but he never dares to tell his true feelings directly.

I dont think that its about an old love. I believe its about a woman he knows mutually through people, a girl he has only seen from afar. From what he knows he thinks she is perfect and spends a large amount of time thinking about her. He feels hopeless because his thoughts of her distort the time therefore he hopes and prays that she feels the same and is experiencing the same pain as him, but he also knows that it's ridiculous to think that.

My Interpretation

Reminds me of how I feel about a guy I like at work lol... I see him from afar and yeah... I love the lines "Was this only in my head; Just like most things go misread; when overthought" because it's so true.

i used to love this song before every single female friend i have of polish descent decided to ignore me for a year. try not to judge me on my kind of taste.

there's this one polish bitch i hate more than anyone and people keep getting us confused. i guess she had a thing with the guy i fucked and also was simultaneously fucking my ex, who is her exbfs exroommate. yeah, hmmm...not my scene.

nothing alike, really. not in the least. i actually don't even like her as a person.

and she obviously doesn't know how my ex works. he always has ~3 people that he considers to be the same person. that's him, not me.

Lyric Correction

the music goes very well with it in that it enhances what the lyrics say (or vice versa depending on your perspective)

It's been at least another year And still I haven't got the chance to say Always rolling off the tongue Never said but nearly sung about a million ways

the only way he seems to get his feelings about a girl out is through music.

Every photograph and story Trickled through the lengthy web of friends I overthought but understood Distant looks but looking good And not the other way

facebook comes to mind with "lengthy web of friends" and how he sees the girl in pictures and comments. he thinks deeply about the girl but he understands her feelings for him. she gave him distant looks(this seems to be a theme in palomos songs)-as in she was thinking about him "but looking good" in a good way-she is interested. however (distant) could mean possible looks-in another time they could be together. "not the other way"-not at other guys. definitely him.

she fails to remember- he thinks deeply about things that most would overlook.

Translation

I don't think it necessarily means the only way he expresses his feelings to this girl is via song. "nearly sung about a million ways" could also more generally mean that he insinuates his feelings but never outright says them.

With heat struck afternoons long through Those idle dreams go back to you The echo seems so low displaced Everything that's not your face, I'm drifting off to

during long afternoons he daydreams about her. he is in a room looking around but at the same time thinking about her. he looks at different objects but the "echo" of her face remains in his consciousness.

boy of infiltrations That what was made of constellations that I've saw Was this only in my head Just like most things go misread When overthought

he sees things in "constellations"(symbolic objects) that make him think of the possibility of him being with her. but all of it is only in his head. he feels like he is misreading "clues" because he over-thinks them.

Do I still cross your mind? Your face still distorts the time

this is the most important part of the song as it links music and lyrics together.

right before he asks "do i still cross your mind" the music takes on a different note alltogether.

do you even think about me? but in my head your face is still giving me thoughts (that i may be over-thinking)

it sounds as if the warping sounds themselves are asking questions. those warping noises are the raw emotions themselves.

basically the speaker is in a vacuum by himself. he lives within his head...how can he know the reality when the clues tell him something else. everything is in perspective. we live through perspective.

My Interpretation

With heat struck afternoons on through those idle dreams go back to you The echo seemed so low displaced Every form that's on her face I'm drifting off too Motivate flirtation The rest was made of constellations that I saw Was this only in my head Just like most things go misread When over thought
