This is an awesome song....
I think this song is open to interpretation like most... but too me this song is about a couple who have had difficulties and perhaps have broken up, there is still a lot of love between them and he is just saying that he is willing to wait for him/her to sort out whatever issues caused the breakup and he is just waiting for them to come back and tell him that they are ready to be "free"
Free of all the issues that plagued them and free to love and live a happy life forever!!
I have probably read a bit of my own life into this but I think it fits :)
i love this song too... i think it's about an ex girlfriend or a current girlfriend who is a perfectionist. She's going through a tough time in her life at the moment (maybe friends have betrayed her, family, stress/pressure of study/work and relationship issues). He and her have had a fight and she's sinking into depression. That needle or damaging blade could be her constant criticism of herself, and others in her life (she expects too much and is always dissappinted and frustrated).
He's telling her to relax, enjoy life and smile. Forget the stress as life is short- he wants her to have fun with him.That's my take on it anyway! :)

I think this song is about a couple; the guy knows that she is feeling like she doesn't know if she wants to be with him for the rest of her life, like she feels like she needs to be independant.
He's telling her that he wants to be with her, that he sees her destiny in his shoes, like they'll travel together. He's calm because he knows in the long run things will work out, but maybe she needs time away, to be free, before they can really be happy togther. He loves her, but he's saying that if she wants to go away and be free for awhile, she's the one that has to say something, because he doesn't have that feeling of being trapped.
To me its about a couple who dream of escaping the world they know. They dream of moving to a new and vibrant city where people are free and happy. They want to take a risk in order to live life to its fullest.
She starts to lose the vision and the courage and starts to doubt their dream but he goes on fearlessly without her with the hope that she will take the leap of faith with him.
