Easy Way Out Lyrics
Seventeen seconds and I'm over it
Ready for the disconnect
Putting on a brave face
Trying not to listen
to the voices in the back of my head
(But it's alright now)
It's a distant memory baby
(It's alright now)
You know you should just let it go
But some feelings have a habit of persisting
even thought you wouldn't let it show
Wearing me out
(All this)
Hanging around
(It just starts)
Getting me down
('till I'm just)
Looking for an easy way out
Braindead from boredom
I'm led to distraction
Scratching the surface of life
Nothing really happens
But it's easy to keep busy
When you tell yourself you're traveling right
(But it's alright now)
Was it really worth it baby?
(It's alright now)
Was it just a waste of time?
Keep on second-guessing
Use my memory like a weapon
On everything I try
Wearing me out
(All this)
Hanging around
(It just starts)
Getting me down
('till I'm just)
Looking for an easy way out
Ready for the disconnect
Putting on a brave face
Trying not to listen
to the voices in the back of my head
It's a distant memory baby
(It's alright now)
You know you should just let it go
even thought you wouldn't let it show

Rather self explanatory lyrics. The person he is singing about is not willing to put any effort in to get out of the rut, so he stays there living a boring life.
The video which was released today seems to back this up
After re-reading the lyrics and watching the video, it could be about those who are stuck in the rut and look to pills, bullets, bridges and rooftops & gravity to end it.

This is a song about merely existing in the world as an intuitive person wrapped up by the meaninglessness of everyday life currently.
The way to true happiness is hard. The "surface of life" is enjoying all these material things and giving into human desires. The voices are talking whenever he indulges, "Is it really worth it? You're wasting your time focusing on these little things. You should let go of your secular desires). Hangin' around with people who are also indulging is supposed to make him happy, but it gets him down because he wishes it was easier to quit all this.
"It's easy to keep busy when you tell yourself you're traveling right." The Western way of life is the way to go! It's good to work and acquire material wealth and socialize with friends with drinks and games... right?
I wonder, why did it only take "17 seconds"?
@DottedDee I just realized he's saying 17 seconds for a reason... that's like how long an affirmation takes to work... look that up! 17 seconds affirmation/energy

I think this song is about someone suffering from the pain of life and trying to ignore it. It could also be about someone suffering from a panic attack.

I think it's about being tired of going through the same old routine everyday.
i think it's about someone living in denial, lying to themselves and thinking everything's just fine the way it is. it's about maintaining the status quo, not taking any risks. the trade off? a boring day-today life...
awesome song though. very upbeat for a sorta sad song. i can see myself humming it all week. oh and the film clip! i mean, do i even need to say how amazing it is? i love this guy!
This song feels like my life right now....Only with a fantastic beat.
