Annie Wants a Baby Lyrics

Lucy Reibart
She's a friend of mine
Later she'll go
Back and redefine the line
It's getting longer all the time
Oh Yeah

Drinking sunshine
She likes the taste of it
She had a gold mine
But then she wasted it away
You should have seen her yesterday
Oh Yeah

Sing along the way
Nothing stops the ache

Sugar daddy
Loves her madly
Cosma shiva
Got off
Made you a believer
I don't need to
Tender
Why do I believe you
Annie wants a baby now
Annie wants a baby
Any way she can

Missing pieces
She's got a lot of them
Time decreases
I wish I thought of them before
Before it's time
To close the store
Oh Yeah

Distillation
A lonely sync of fame
Some liberation
The only seed
We ever plant
I wanna help you
But I can't
No no

Sing along the way
Nothing stops the ache

Sugar daddy
Loves her madly
Love 'er leave 'er
Got off
Made you a believer
Neon soldiers
Left her
Now you've gotten older
Annie wants a baby now
Annie wants a baby
Anyway she can

It's getting longer all the time
It's time to redesign the sign
Oh Yeah
Sings along the way

I must be wrong but when I listen to this cong I can see very clear the picture of a girl who always has what she wants, I mean, that kind of girl who always gets what she wants. But it's never enough. She's always tired of what she has and always want something different, and by the chorus "Annie wants a baby now, Annie wants a baby anyway she cans" we can see that it's just another thing that she wants to pass the time. I mean, she always get what she wants but in the end she has nothing, and the feeling of having nothing scares her to death. But that's just my interpretation

Yes, this! I think this is about a girl who is constantly searching for things outside of herself to make her happy. Maybe the lyric "Annie wants a baby" doesn't mean a literal baby, but something new and different to satisfy her?

"Sent along the way Nothing stops the ache"

"Missing pieces Shes got alot of them"

These lyrics really make me think the song is more about the girl's dissatisfaction with herself/what she has in life.

The [?] should be ache, and in "The only seed we ever farm," farm should be plant

"Lucy Rebar"

"Sing along the way Nothing stops the ache"

"Sugar daddy Loves her madly Cosma shiva Got off Made you a believer I don't need to Tender Why do I believe you"

"Distillation A lonely sycophant Some liberation The only seed we ever plant"

"Sugar daddy Loves her madly Love 'er leave 'er Got off Made you a believer Neon soldiers Left her Now you've gotten older"

And the last line is "Sings along the way"

I am listening to the correct song? The song that I have on my itunes does not follow along with any of these lyrics except the Lucy Rebar part.

I can't see a clear idea about this song... Annie could be Nina Hagen? Cosma Shiva is her daughter... Anthony was her lover many years ago, right? "Some liberation The only seed we ever plant I wanna help but I can't", she wants a baby from him? (I'm getting pretty annoying I guess lol)

I think this song is about a woman who wants to procreate by any means, but she hasn't a clue about how to do it. "Go, back and redefine the line" or "It's time to redesign the sign" means that having a baby it's not so simple since she's been trying to get pregnant for a long time. "She had a goldmine, but then she wasted it away"--> reference to abortion. Annie tries to sing to turn off the pain she feels ("nothing stops the ache"). Probably she's tried so many times to get pregnant that everybody in her family started to believe in some omen ("cosma, shiva, made you a believer"). The second verse explains menopause (the "missing pieces" are the ovarian cells,"time decreases" because she keeps losing them- "before it's time to close the store" (permanent cessation of her reproductive function)) The "installation" which Anthony refers to is having a foetus growing and developing leaving her mother alone for nine months (she'll stay at home more than ever, taking care of herself). The "liberation" is actually giving birth to the baby. And is the "only seed we ever farm" because having children is the way we leave a sign in this world. There's no happy ending, since this "sugar daddy" leaves Annie (they both become older and cannot have babies anymore). Sad story.

My Interpretation

I also understand that song the same way, but I believe that Lucy is a girl who is trying to conceive and Annie is just the girl she notes having children, and there is a sense of injustice because Lucy can't, but Annie can.
